Play.com Review
Swaggering, pounding and embracing, Dig Out Your Soul is the seventh studio album from Oasis. The early success of Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory found the Manchester quartet gain a legendary status that has remained undiminished ever since. Dig Out Your Soul combines the fine work displayed in 2005's spectacular Don't Believe The Truth, with the brash, full-frontal vibe of their early releases.
The musical equivalent of a thunderstorm, opener `Bag It Up' is a stomping rock-out master-class. Coming from a band famed for creating rousing festival favourites is `The Turning' a majestic anthem complete with a 50-piece choir. Unlike previous releases, there are worthy songwriting contributions from lesser-known members of the band, with bassist Andy Bell contributing `The Nature Of Reality', a crunchy, blues-influenced number which although differs enormously from the fast pace of a majority of the album but still retains '60s influences which have become a staple of Oasis' sound. Guitarist Gem Archer is behind the psychedelic, Beatles-esque `To Be Where There's Life' but again it's Noel Gallagher who steals the show with the emphatic `Falling Down', a gloriously produced slice of confident indie-rock he has always been capable of.
Although now rougher around the edges, Oasis have once again produced an album of honest rock`n'roll, that excites the listener with exquisite riff-based songwriting and larger-than-life confidence. Nothing less than what we've come to expect from one of the most significant bands of our generation, Dig Out Your Soul is arguably Oasis' finest work since their debut.
Dig Out Your Soul is also available in a CD & DVD Limited Edition Hardback Cover.

Before i begin, no its not definately maybe of morning glory..but...what album released in after the year 2000 will come even close to those 2 albums???NOTHING!
If this was a debut album it would be milked, so many top tunes on there, The Turning and Bag it Up have never even been played live at all.Im outta time is as good as any pop music in the charts, and Falling Down seems it can be a movie soundtrack.
Tell me a band that dont go live stage and perform all there classics?? Every band does.....
As much as people that hate oasis dont like it, there music will be here forever
One song missing..

Thats all I can find wrong with this album. As an album it takes you back to the days when you could listen to an album from start to finish and not even realise it. The "groove" style in particular that Noel himself describes is very true, but I still find myself liking individual songs for what they are. All in all this makes for a great blend. My only qualm is because of the albums "groove" style the end doesnt really end for me, its quite an anti climax. One of the songs that was left off the album "Boy With The Blues" would have been perfect as this big ending song. This opinion only comes from Oasis setting such high standards though, and any other new band on the scene now would give their entire set list just to have an album like this. Definately a must have.
