As most of their fan-base will know, Oasis are a very different band these days and they have been since the turn of the millennium. While many corners of the mainstream media criticise the group for not being able to eclipse their 1994 debut, they usually omit the fact that the quality of their output is usually significantly higher than any contemporary artist in their field can muster at the time. Dig Out Your Soul is another triumphant landmark in the evolution of a band that makes no excuses, pulls no punches and as long as your mind is open as theirs, fails to disappoint.

From the opening growl of the guitars on 'Bag It Up' it is evident that Oasis have continued to inject a stark rawness into their sound. As always Liam Gallagher's unmistakable vocal is present throughout along with a couple of performances by older brother Noel. Lyrically themes of uncertainty and wanting are scattered throughout the album. Hardly surprising from a working class band that, contrary to their lofty personal status, still seems to be in touch with the people.

Standout tracks are the thought provoking 'The Turning', the first single 'The Shock Of The Lightening', the truly emotive lennonesque Liam penned ballad 'I'm Out Of Time', the cosmic 'Falling Down' and the Beatles in India tinged 'The Nature Of Reality'.
