iv only heard one song so far and it was amazing! Fast and cathcy riffs, great vocal melodies, and stunning solos. read review in total guitar which described it as 'basically the ultimate metal album'
listen to: hearts burst into fire
IT WILL MAKE THEM MASSIVE
Load your CD and just sit back as you hear some great metal riffs, superb mix and a range of fantastic new songs, you can see the influences, opening with a touch of Metallica in the vocals, but then the middle sections often show some clever guitar work and catchy melodies, personally you can either over analyse this or just ramp up the volume and just enjoy what is a great metal album, Worth the money for sure !
I consider Metal to be 'Slayer', early 'Metallica' etc, I wouldn't put 'Bullet For My Valentine' in the same catergory. They do have Metal elements in their music, but like so many genres they have evolved it into their own sound and it works very well for them. Matt Tucks melodic vocals are what put them in a different catergory and also one of 'Bullet's' strongest features. Matt's voice has changed slightly for this album, and it fits well with the direction of the music. The album kicks off with full force with 'Scream Aim Fire' and 'Eye of the Storm' after these two songs you can tell they've gone for a more metal sound, but this doesn't continue throughout. 'Waking the Demon' is probably the only other forceful metal track with great singing and a great solo. 'Hearts Burst into Fire' is going to be a crowd pleaser and is made for a stadium atmosphere, the singings fantastic, with some nice break downs, the rest of the band back this up with great music.'Say Goodbye' and final track 'Forever & Always' will also be set to light up stadiums. The rest of the album is made of solid rock/metal tracks, 'Deliver us From Evil' has good vocal and guitar work, 'Take it Out on Me' features guest vocals from Benji of Skindred and his and Matts vocals work well together, also another nice breakdown in this song. Despite this, it isn't as good as 'The Poison' or their self titled EP. There is a few flaws, lyrically im not very keen on some of the tracks, other people have pointed this out, but the 'Eye of the Storm' is supposed to be the calmest part of the storm and this isn't whats said in the song at all....ooops. The other problem is there isn't as much diversity in the songs, a few just sound a little too similar, but the songs are good so you can look past this. I do think they have recieved a little too much critisim off some people for this album, they're still a young band and have the quality already that some bands spend a whole career trying to achieve. A solid second album that 'Bullet' fans will appreciate.
Been a bfmv fan for a while now and have been anticipating this album for a while and it hasn't disappointed me at all, tracks like hearts burst into fire just restore my faith in this band:) good buy for any modern metal fan!
Great album. Better than The Poison? Its hard to compare the two, but personally, I think it is. Make your own decision though. I Pre-ordered my copy but it didn't come with the promised poster. Rather disappointed with that, but it may turn up in a few days.
