Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Superb debut from an exciting band!

This album is engaging from start to finish and upon repeated listens becomes even more rewarding (much like most excellent albums). Foals have fantastic riffs by the shed-load and have the songs to back up the fine guitar work. If you're already familiar with Baloons, Cassius and Hummer you're in for a treat as these are not the best songs in my opinion. Well worth buying. If you haven't, go buy it now and bask in this album's beauty! Can't wait for album no. 2.

The thing with this album is that its more chilled out and relaxed compared to their live shows (which have to be seen)
i actually think this album is a great one in fact one of my favourites of the year, its an album that i can chill out to in perticular i think the stand out tracks are
- Red Sox Pugie
- Electric Bloom
- Olympic Aiwaves
(and if must then cassius :/)
this a great album that takes a couple of listens to fully understand it yes it may use random words but the more you listen the more it is understood.
(ALSO if you can try and find the B-Sides Gold Gold Gold and Dearth cause quite frankily they deserved to be on the album)

When i heard Balloons and casius i thought these guys were the future. But then i bought the album. I disagree witht he review that they sound like the Klaxons; but i see where its coming from the lyrics are very unimaginative, random words put together to fit the rhif. 2 great songs on 1 very dodgy album.

Although the majority of the album cannot quite reach the heights of 'Balloons' and 'Cassius', it is an album of vast depth, intelligently subtle emotional commentary, and unusual levels of sophistication. Therefore, it holds limitless appeal. Whilst some complain of too much similarity between the songs, looking past the twingly guitar sections can reveal a great deal of unconventional beauty. The special edition album is a must if you don't own 'Mathletics' and 'Hummer'.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Impressive!

The first I heard of this band was in late 2007 with a track called Balloons, Radio 1 championed this track and it was refreshingly different. It took me a while to find the same appreciation for Cassius however. On finally buying this CD though I am glad to say the other tracks more than live up to the promise of the more commercial forebearers. This is another example of the fantastically original music scene we are blessed with in the UK. Buy this album; you will not be disappointed.

A major let down. It sounds exactly like the Klaxons, even the pointless and emotionally void lyrics are similar.
The interesting guitar work and horn arrangements are the only thing worth listening out for.

When I first heard teh Foals, I didn't think much of them, but when they released Balloons, I started to like them, and when they released Cassius, I had to get their album. On first listen, I wasn't too impressed, but like allways I give it anotehr listen, because i am not impressed with most albums on first listen. But after the 4th listen, I really noticed how atmospheric the album is. They are deffantly playing the music they want to, that is pure and not trying to sound like everything else, and it is that that makes it so great! It deffantly stands out in my now quite varied music collection, and is one of my favourite albums.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars worth a listen

I went to see this band at the Astoria, so much energy and great sounds. Unfortunatly it hasn't played out so well in the studio. I would reccomend getting the 2cd version, this gives some live sounds and worth the £2-3 more. A fantastic new band that has something extra to bring to an already over populated music scene. Not a just for fans album but worth listening too before you make the investment.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars friggin great!

Excellent... but but the Special Edition 2CD for extra stuff.
File next to the bands Disco Inferno and Modern English.
