Weezer are a fantastic band, and this new album sees them get right back to their roots with a set of songs that has more in common with their debut than any other album they have made since.
There is only one lacklustre track here (Heart Songs) but other than that this is another mighty slice of power-pop brilliance. Standouts include the epic 'The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived', the Crowded House meets Beatles strum of 'Thought I Knew', the catchy 'Automatic' and 'Cold Dark World', and the single 'Pork And Beans'.
Weezer are one of those rare bands that tick most people's boxes: Pop? Tick. Rock? Tick. Clever, insightful, meaningful lyrics thrown in for good measure? Tick.
Give it a chance

Big Fan with a Big Problem here. A lot of people have heard the 8 leaked tracks and have been quick to write this album and the band off. You have to give this album a chance.... as a music maker, trust me it is genius ... as a music lover its a sing-a-long, catchy classic.
Genius

Ok, so Weezer are one of my all time favorite bands so this review may seem biased, but this is a superb album. It is much better than i thought it would be because it is so surprising also. From the catchy opener 'Troublemaker', the amazing pop-panning lyrics of first single 'Pork and Beans' to the beautiful (and band's favorite) ending 'Angel and the one', it's clear that the talent now stems not just from Rivers, but from the whole band, making their present and future looking even rosier than ever.
