Back To Black (2CD Brilliant Edition)

'Pvdhoo' can't have listened to much music if he/she thinks Back To Black has poor sound - a lot of the sounds on the first CD are purposely retro, harking back to classic Motown and Ska, for example the drum sound on Just Friends. It's all a matter of taste and opinion of course, but my opinion is that this album (not the extra stuff, just the original CD) is pretty much faultless - a mix of strong melodies and rhythms, some amazing lyrics (think about what she's saying about life and love), and emotive vocals. So far, the best thing she's done.

A truly awful CD and a real let down. The songs on it just don't live up to singles she has released. I had high expectations for this but I won't be listening to it again in a hurry.

Very disappointing - only knowing the song Valerie (and knowing that she won a number of awards), I decided to buy this album, but that has been a mistake. The song Valerie stands out by far (on the bonus CD) the rest ranges from terrible to Ok at best. Beautiful voice but the songs just don't seem to suit her voice. General feel is that the songs aren't balanced though that could also be due to sound quality, see below
Most disappointing is sound quality of the CD - it is terribly bright to the point that it is simply irritating to the ears. The bonus CD sounds normal and has good sound quality which is why I don't understand the sound quality of the main CD. Or is that what the title of the album (Brilliant edition) refers to? Anyway, maybe this is an album that has to grow on you in time but this one won't because unfortunately the sound quality makes it to tiring to listen to. Any one else have the same experience?

This album truly is a classic of our time. She has the typical lifestyle of the rich and tragic, such as Jim Morrisson, Hendrix, Joplin, Monroe and Elvis. She is a master of her art and suffering for it too.

Every track on the CD is a masterpiece. She writes with emotion and tongue in cheek sassiness. The well known tracks such as Rehab, Back to Black, and I'm No Good are fantastic but the little known ones on the album such as Me and Mr Jones are amusing as much as they are amazing.

This Album is the best UK female creation this decade has to offer. Buy it, listen to it and love it... as previously mentioned, enjoy her now while you can, she may not be with us for much longer.

Amazing album. Worth it for the album alone. The second disc is great. Valerie is on there (not the mark ronson mix though) and a great version of cupid. Brilliant album, you'll never get bored of this one!!
