You'd be forgiven for thinking this album and singer is so hyped,it'll end up being disappointing,i certainly wasn't disappointed.
Of course there's the Dylan comparison,or a modern day version of,but Jake Bugg does show a lot of talent here for song writing and he has an interesting voice, which helps with the appeal. His lyrics do make him sound wise beyond his years and yet very down to earth, still managing to sound like a young man trying to find himself in a very confusing world.
With maturity like this,he's set for big things indeed. The album has enough balance of slow and faster paced songs to not get predictable and if his second album shows him growing even more as a young talent, this guy could be huge.

So talented for someone so young!

So totally different to the usual bland pop of today.
The best new talent from these shores for years and years.

How can an 18 year old sound like a 70 year old blues/ country and folk singer. this boy is a revelation and the album is simply perfect. If your a music fan, buy it, you wont be dissapointed

  Lightning Bolt Indeed

Wow this is a talented young man!! First heard lightning bolt on Zane Lows Radio 1 show, whilst nipping out in ther car. Made sure I heard who the artist was after the song.

So Jake Bugg eh? Got the album and the more I listen the more I love. His music is varied but I hear old rock and roll with a modern twist in his music. It simple, well constructed songs, raw and not over complicated. So different by modern standards. He sounds his own man but I hear a bits of Oasis, Dylan and even fifties rock/rockabilly in some tracks!! Its a great listen.

This boy has a big future ahead of him if this album is is the standard we can come to expect!!

What a breath of fresh air from the usaual, manufactured stuff you get these days.
A lad that tells his story with an accoustic guitar.. Brilliant!
He reminds me of so many greats.. Dylon, Cash, Lennon and believe me he is in the same league.
The album is musically great and it gets slower near the end, but it makes you listen more intently.
Have a look at a live session he does of 'Lightning Bolt' you'll be blown away.

Absolutely brilliant. 18 years old and he's probably released one of the best albums of this year. Brings back the days of The Beatles etc. Superb. Definitely worth a buy!

I first saw Jake Bugg on BBC red button a week or so ago, never heard of im before. After watching him decided to buy the album. This is my album of the year. Hints of a young Bob Dylan, John Denver, John Mayall and more recent Fleet Foxes. No a duff track throughout. my favourite tracks at the moment:- Lightning bolt, Two fingers, country song and broken, tomorrow who knows? Also not a parental guidance sticker to be found anywhere. A joy to listen to. This is a must buy for any good music fan. Listen to mp3 download samples and see,you will not be disappointed. Enjoy
