  Some Really Good Songs

Not shocked, but disappointed. I don't want to be sworn at every time I listen to the album - however amusing that might be.

One of my favourite albums this year

Don't understand how anyone could call this dull. Sheryl is one of the most tallented singer-songwriters of all time and the beutiful, poignant and meaningful songs on this album confirms this. If you're a SC fan, go but it now.

  Shocked?

I find it slightly amusing that someone, these days, can be "shocked" because she uses "the F word" as it's stated below. Give me a break ...

This CD is easily Sheryl's most consistent and most gratifying since her selftitled 1997 release, even contesting that release as her best ever. Highly recommended.

If what you were looking for in music was shallow, personality cult, trash, you might already know that Sheryl Crow is the wrong musician to listen to.
What you get here is a supremely crafted set of songs, none of which pull any punches. There are no barriers between musical genres and careful listeners can hear the influence of many great musicians and tunes from all avenues of popular music. The result is poignant and rich but demanding.
Her direct expression of political commitment to peace, justice and freedom are more "Lennon" and certainly not "Lenin" inspired. As such they are tempered with inspiration and constructed with compassion to nurture not preach.

Is it me or can I no longer buy even a Sheryl Crow CD and play it in the presence of my music loving children. There is no "advisory" label and the printed lyrics are completely different to what is on Track 10. The whole CD is very similar to old stuff and I wonder if Sheryl is so short of ideas that she has to resort to use of the "F" word. She may be trying to appeal to a different type of fan. She has certainly lost this one.

  Dull

| | See all HonestAJsreview's reviews (2)

After building up to what was arguably Sheryl's best album in the shape of "Wildflower" this outing is one of the biggest let downs you could possible imagine. There is not even a highlight on the album just a relentless melee of dull tones. This seems like lazy work from Sheryl.

  Sadly disappointing

I am a life long fan of Sheryl and have all her records - but can't help but be a little disappointed in this new album, all the songs sound the same and are quite frankly boring. i've bought it in support of Sheryl but if I wasn't such a collector of her work I seriously doubt i'd have paid for this.
