This young lady has a great voice which she can use to reflect emotion as well as versatility in the songs she sings.
She is not like Amy Winehouse - she is much better and a completely different talent.
So sorry i am missing her concert at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester this evening - roll on The Ritz in May.
A young lady who hails from Nefyn on the Lleyn Peninsula and at the moment is happy to promote places at & near her home town. Goodbye WINEHOUSE hello DUFFY!
When I first heard Duffy, I thought that she was jumping on the Amy Winehouse bandwagon and (God Forbid) almost dismissed her. I am so relieved I didn't!!
First of all, I can't stop listening to this album!! At first I only listened to the songs I knew but the entire album grew on me so quickly. I Amy Whitehouse is modern mowtown, then Duffy ia a version of Dusty Springfield. All the songs on the album echo familiar melodies of songs from the 60's, but they have been modernised to bring together an amazing and unique album.
I know those of you out there will prefer Miss Winehouse's direction, but in my opinion, you must buy this album. You won't regeret it.
Let's hope more performers out there take a look at the past and act upon it.
One of the best new artists I've heard in a very long time.
Sound a bit like Amy Winehouse, except...well, less of a whiney/drunk vibe.
Also, sounds a bit like Dusty Springfield (I know that's what everyone says, but she really does!)
Mercy is the catchiest song so far this year - and is also a triumph quality wise, a rare thing indeed in today's charts.
I'm often skeptical about artists being labelled the next best thing and discovering that they don't live up to the hype at-all (Kate Nash, Adele), but Duffy is fantastic.
If you want meaningful lyrics, a great use of a backing band and a simply amazing voice - Duffy the voice is your girl!
Welsh, blonde and sounds like Dusty - what more could you want...?
10/10
I first heard this track on the radio a month or so ago, I honestly thought the singer was a black soul singer, like Macy Gray or someone of days gone by, not realising this was a current tune. Loved the track, a great throwback to the motown era, which I love. DJ annouced the singers name, then behold Duffy on Jools Hollands BBC2 "Later". I was gobsmacked, what a voice, what a talent.....move over Amy Whinehouse (no not a spelling mistake), I would put her in the same league as Aretha, Dusty, Ella, Macy etc...got to get the album, probably two copies because I'm sure I'll play one to death.
A great sexy voice with a bod to go with it, move-over Amy Winer!!
