The more that I listen to the Guillemots Red cd the more I like it as I found it to be a bit of a slow burner for me. The first track Kriss Kross is a great poppy rock song and, Get Over It is too which always makes me want to dance to it. Falling Out Of Reach and Words are both great mellow relaxing songs with excellent lyrics. The Guillemots Red album is so varied in it's music style I'm sure that most people who are into their music will find something that they enjoy here. At the end of this month I will be seeing the Guillemots live at the Eden Project supporting KT Tunstall which hopefully will be just as enjoyable as, the Raconteurs and Vampire Weekend concert that I went to earlier this year at the Eden Project too. I'm sure it will be a great concert just as this is a great cd.

Through The Windowpane was diverse and fun, the same applies here. There's much more emphasis on the power of the beat this time(RnB influence), and it sounds a tad over-produced but the melodies, lyrics etc are genuine and inventive. Its no better or worse than the first album and is definitley worth the purchase just to chase away all the crap music around at the moment.

I love this group, I don't know why sometimes, as when I catch them playing live on TV, so do come across as a bit pretentious jazzy, maybe I fancy the Bass Player too much!
This album I think is more slickly produced than the last. The last probably had more stand out songs, but i have only had a chance for one listen so far, so i am hoping they will grow on me quickly. This one feels like they trying out newer ideas, maybe moving away from the Brazillian theme to a more world view.
A nice change, and the songs still have that punch that make it stand out and listen. Keep it up Fyfe! At least your different to the rest of the tight jean wearing indie dross out at the moment and going your own way!

the trouble with Mr Dangerfield & Co. is that he (they) has so many good ideas per album that the listener gets lost and there are too many surprises, musical motifs and conceits. Almost to the point that the music becomes so disorientating the listener switches off. Persevere, keep listening and the bizarre becomes beautiful, the unexpected commonplace. The Guillemots are the solution, the challenge to all that poptastic pap floating around the ether. The Guillemots are just great and that is why are give them 5 *. Kriss Kross, Take Me Home, Last Kiss are stand-outs for me in a great album.
