To describe the courteeners, I would say they are a combination of arctic monkeys and oasis. This album is packed full of great songs. The best being their first single What Took You So Long? But Bide Your Time is also one of my favs. This could be one of the forerunners for album of 2008.
Brilliant

This album is the best album of the year so far, and of the last two years apart from The Enemy's "We'll Live and Die in These Towns". I love Oasis and I know people are comparing them to these guys but Liam Fray's writiing style is completely different to Noel Gallagher's. The best songs are "What took you so long" and "Not Nineteen Forever". Buy, and enjoy the fresh sound of new British Indie.
Terrific

I'm not usually an indie girl but a friend played me the album and I was hooked. It's got loads of really upbeat tracks, and I was mesmerised Liam Fray's distinctive Northern accent. I think the best tracks on the album are 'Bide Your Time' and 'Please Don't', and it's almost impossible to sit still to 'Cavorting'. Their sound is totally different to Oasis, but they sure have the potential to be around for as long. Can't wait to see them live in Manchester this October!
Class!

Ignore the people who are comparing The Courteeners to Oasis, give them a chance! Start comparing after the 3rd or 4th album.
If you have heard any of the singles and think they are any good then i would say definitely buy this album, it just gets better and better.
It's one of those albums you just can't stop listening to.
Can't wait to hear them live at the festivals this year.
brilliant

not really one for writing reviews but thought i must for 2 reasons.
1 this is a blinding album, ive listened to it quite a lot since buying it and can honestly say its quality, well done lads
2 i also wanted to say that ive noticed quite a lot of the people who give this a bad review are always comparing them to oasis, the roses and the smiths.
dont you realise they are the courteeners and should be judged on that instead of just comparing them to past bands, i do love the other bands ive just mentioned and still listen to their music just as much now as ive always done but i think it is also time to look to the future instead of wollowing in the past and these guys are the future. Plus to say liam Fray isnt in the same class as noel, ian brown and morrisey is a bit unfair considering this is their first album, at least give the lad a chance and a few more albums before you start slagging him off.
Awesome

Excellent ablum, love it, proper decent tunes, a bit of everything. 1 disapointment why not put Acrylic on the ablum, but good job I brought the special edition with it on. Can't wait to see these live again! What Took You So Long? tunes off 2008 - hope to see these at some festivals too.
nothing special

i was expecting more from the courteeners debut but once again a new hyped to the max band has let me down.not nineteen forever is the standout track here and when i first heard it i had to have the album how disapointing when not one other song here lives up to that singles promise.singer liam fray has said that st judes is a debut that stands up to the stone roses and oasis but he is so deluded its embrassing. this is typical indie rock n roll with more than a whiff of the libertines about it.they may think their the new smiths but this album is so average it makes the view and arctic monkeys sound sophisticated.they may improve in time and fray could well blossom into a strong songwriter but does he stand up to noel gallagher, ian brown and morrissey? not a chance.
Arctic Monkeys, who are they?

These Guys Ruleeee.. Arctic Monkeys are not a patch on these guys and i love them too!! This band define the British Indie scene they are just great, comin straight out of manchester where it all started. I heard about this quartet early last year and just knew they would be massive. The lead singer Liam Fray is a genius writing rough and rugged lyrics that every typical working class man can relate to, simply fantastic!! Really impressive and an all round polished performance from the mancunians.. Best Indie around at the min such a raw talent BUY BUY BUY...
love it love it love it

love this album. Don't understand the other some of the other reviews. Its original, and leaves you wanting more. They put more experienced bands to shame. Some of the songs could have been longer but no other complaint. Buy it!
