I have been playing this album for over a week now and it has exceeded all my expectations. I guessed it would be good. With such lovely film music and Jonathan Ansell's fabulous high tenor voice it couldnt really fail but I didnt expect it to be so very good. Every song is a winner; the production is excellent and the orchestration is superb.

The first track on the album "Here's to the Heroes" shows off Jonathan's huge vocal range from very low to very high and the last track on the album the aria "Che Gelida Manina" demonstrates what a lovely lyrical tenor he is and impressively "Che Gelida Manina" (a difficult aria to sing) was done in one take with the orchestra. In between there are some of the loveliest film scores enhanced by Jonathans beautiful voice. Hayley Westenra and All Angels join Jonathan on two of the tracks - "Un Giorno Per Noi" from Romeo and Juliet and "Vois Sur Ton Chemin" - both duets are delightful.

On "Now We are Free" and "Parla Piu Piano" Jonathan shows off his lower range with two lovely mellow vocal performances beautifully performed. A stand out track is "Down in the River to Pray." A spine tingling, beautifully performed, spiritual song, which totally thrills. The song has no musical accompaniement, the beauty is drawn out purely through Jonathans fabulous voice accompanied by a choir.

Definitely the best album I have bought for a very long time. I would recommend it unreservedly. Excellent music - fabulous voice.

Well deserving of having attained the No 1 album on the Classical chart and especially impressive for Jonathan being the youngest ever Tenor to achieve topping the classical chart!

This is a great album if you like a classically trained voice. Jonathan Ansell has chosen some lovely songs from the movies which suit his amazing voice. If you like Andrea Bocelli, or Josh Groban, you would like this too.Jonathan sounds even better on his own now he has left G4. Great voice, and lovely arrangements.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars A welcome return

After a long wait since the split of G4, Jonathan's first album is a long way from the G4 albums. The album 'Tenor at the movies' is a collection of songs which will delight the classical fan and introduce new fans to classical music.
