 A Haunting Masterpiece

This review is focused on the paradise cd which features a beautiful collection of 8 new songs that follow on in mostly the same direction as the previous born to die album, so for anyone that didnt like that, wont find much reason to change their opinion here.
The paradise CD finds the incredibly understated Lana truly coming in to her own with a spine tingling collection of epic songs, all of which deserve 5 stars.

RIDE-Opening up with an Americana tale of freedom, everything about this song feels cinematic which is beautifully represented in the music video. It finds itself edging slightly away from the 50s hollywood style of the last album and out on to the nevada open road and in to the peace and freedom era of the 60s, an epic beginning to the EP.

AMERICAN- If youre not American, this song will make you wish you were. Featuring goosebump inducing vocals and lyrics and about being free, this song only builds on the epic opening song.

COLA-Controversial lyrics aside this is the closest song to a Blue Jeans sequel but with attitude and amped up rhythm, as it reaches a seductive climax with electric guitars growling underneath a big rnb beat.

BODY ELECTRIC- Here Lana finds herself set against a massive orchestral chorus which as it progresses, truly showcases just how much she has honed in and improved everything that made us fall in love with her in the first place.

BLUE VELVET- A loving remake of a true classic, that remains classic Lana and still finds itself set perfectly in the era it came from, many should know this from the recent h and m campaign.

GODS AND MONSTERS- The darkest song she has delivered so far, a truly intense and hypnotic song that draws you so far into every shadowy recess of Lanas mind. Big drum beats, screams and a tale of tragic dependency on sex and drugs, here you find yourself so immersed you wish the song didn't have to end.

YAYO- Taken straight from her previously unreleased album, this song strips everything away and exposes Lanas glorious raw talent and pure 50s vocals that sets her so far apart from everything in the charts today and doesn't rely on big beats and bass for entertainment and keeps it seductive and classy.

BEL AIR- Undoubtedly the most haunting song she has produced so far. The introduction sounds like it is taken straight from a world of mystery and magic, all leading into a chorus that will leave every hair on your body raised up. This song takes a slightly different direction from previous songs and is a stand alone classic, ending the album in a totally different kind of epic way to which it began.

All in all this album is so worth owning, even if you already own Born To Die, the Paradise CD is practically a whole albums worth of material anyway and stands alone as a true masterpiece which should see Lana getting the recognition she truly deserves and i very much look forward to seeing her on tour next year

Fantastic Album - suits all ears

Lana Del Rey's Born to Die album is one of the best albums I have heard in many years, her voice is so versatile and the tunes meet all criteria for all but the most extreme musical types.
I heard the 2nd Track (Off to the races) while on shuffle on my iPod and immediately went back to the whole album - it's one I can listen to over and over again and never tire of.
If you haven't heard it, and you have musical taste that covers multiple genres, then I can't recommend it enough.
I keep checking for a follow on album, as I will be definately adding that to my collection.
