eels will be eels: you like them, or you don't. but when you like them, you're hooked.
this album is again a traditional eels album, although not completely: the music seems the same, and the type of lyrics also, but.... there's something different in there: it has a more positive undertone, emotionally. if you know eels you'll know what is meant by this. if you're new to them, you'll notice the difference once you listen to earlier albums.
for me, this one is another classic eels, a welcome musically very interesting experience so far.
try it!

If you're a fan of Eels then you'll like this. There's nothing new here, it all sounds reassuringly familiar, with a good mix on raucous rock and weepy ballads, all delivered in E's distinctive gruff voice.
