 Best Album Since Hysteria

| | See all DefLepRule's reviews (1)

At last Def Leppard come up trumps with a cracking album full of cracking guitar riffs and catchy melodies. Lep fans will absolutely lap this up with the album opener "Go" blasting out some of the heaviest stuff the band have done in years. Stand out tracks include C'Mon C'Mon, Tomorrow, Hallucinate and Bad Actress (written about Lindsay Lohan et al). First single "Nine Lives" is one of the weaker songs which is a tribute to the overall strength of the album. Turn it up loud and enjoy!

 still rocks!

Such a refreshing varied album that takes off from where their X album stopped in its tracks with the tracks like Nine Lives and C'Mon C'Mon sure to be added to the sets of fan favourites with its good set of riffs and choruses sure to get those rocking on the dancefloors and concerts.

 It's Leppard!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe they are actually releasing an album of new material. After the awesome X it's with great aprehension that i await this release. rumours on the grape vine suggest this could be a cross between High n dry and Hysteria.
If this is the case then it has the makings of being their best album so far. Let's hope however that it doesn't become another Adrenalize. While being a good album in its own right, it was a damp squib after the might of Hysteria, and X progressed into being as good, if not better than Hysteria. let's just pray that the rumour mill is correct and that the band will give us the album that all leppard fans have been waiting for since god knows how long.
Only leppard fans will understand this review, so instead of getting Wasted, let's Run Riot.
And Rock On

At last Def Leppard are more rocky again!

I have all of Def Leppard albums and the last one that I really enjoyed was Slang after that album they went to soft and bland for me. As I was starting to lose faith in Def Leppard it was a nice surprise for me to hear the hit single Nine Lives and really like it. I have just recently brought Songs From The Sparkle Lounge and I'm so glad I did because I love the fact the guitars are back in big time. The song Bad Actress is very rocky indeed and there is only the one ballad this time called Love which has a good guitar solo in it too! Overall this is a very good Def Lappard ablum which should not be missed if you are a big fan of theirs and rejoice in the fact that they are more rocky again.

 Leppard re-discover their claws.

Or when Def Leppard remembered to play hard rock guitar again.
A far better effort than their generally mediocre X album, that at the very least sounds like a rock album rather than a collection of Brian Adamsesque ballads. This is a partial return to form. It's not going to challange "High 'N' Dry" or "Pyromania" for pure balls out rock and roll, but those days are a long time ago and at least "From The Sparkle Lounge" has a fair stab at giving the listener an excuse to roll down the car windows and crank the old stereo up to 11.
Highlights include "Go", with a nice heavy riff and some lovely soloing. "Cruise Control", with its controversial subject matter, the lovely Beatlesesque tinged "Only The Good Die Young" and the closest the album has to an old school style Leppard track, "Bad Actress", with its driving AC/DC riffage.
There are some filler tracks to be sure, but Leppard fans old and new should find something to justify a purchase.
