I've followed various genres of music throughout my lifetime, but have always stuck by the B.52's since hearing their eponymous New Wave album twenty-nine years ago. There have been highs and lows since then, especially after the demise of Cindy's brother Ricky, but Funplex proves that they're a band that are still as fresh, funny and funky today as they were in the late 70's.
As mentioned by other reviewers, it took a couple of listens before I realised what a gem of an album this is - I have been listening to it while enduring the daily commute for the past few weeks and haven't tired of it yet. I can honestly say that it is the first album of theirs that, in my opinion, doesn't contain a duff track (not including "Party Mix!", obviously) although I have to skip the Pink Helicopter sequence at the end of Deviant Ingredient because it annoys me for some unknown reason. The title track is my favourite, with almost all other tracks jostling for second place.
Buy this album - you won't regret it - and tell all your friends to invest in it too.

Took a few plays to really get into this album but when I did - WOW!!

Standout tracks are Pump, Juliet of the Spirits, Deviant Ingrediant & Ultraviolet. A classic album of thumping guitars, gorgeous harmonies from Kate & Cindy and Fred's trademark manic vocals. Looking forward to seeing them live in UK in July. Welcome back to The B-52s - please dont leave it 16 years before the next album!!

A huge welcome back to The B-52's and what an album. Listen to it half a dozen times and you'll be hooked. Favourite tracks Pump, Juliet of The Spirits & Love in The Year 3000. Fred Schneider & Kate Pierson sounds as good together as ever. This is what great music is all about - loads of fun. PLAY LOUD!

After harshly judging this album at first i only gave it 3 stars but now im hooked after a few listens it grows on you and you start to realise how good this album is. The first 5 Tracks are amazing and has a Cosmic Thing feel about it. Juliet of Spirits is a track that stands out almost has a summer of love sound to it. Worth the wait and can;t wait for there next album please be soon and as good as Funplex.

This is a great album..if you like the b52's other albums you'll love this..this has more in common with the cosmic thing/good stuff albums than wild planet/mesopatamia but it's all good...top tracks are the amazing juliet of the spiris, dancing around, funplex, love in the year 3000..well pretty much the whole album. Already shaping up to one of the best albums of 2008..no kidding..get this now!

Right can we kill the Scissor Sisters as they are not needed no more...

At first I liked Deviant Ingredient best, now it's more or less a play the whole cd thing.

Like the one that mentions G spot loads too, as its my mate Beccis name.

This cd is worth a purchase, I shall be doing just that.

Go B52's come to Manchester & play soon !!!!

Ive heard the album! and ive pre-ordered it on here :) what can say? its a great album, its catchy, rocky and fun :) they still got it. Funplex is uplifting, feel good album. so if your tired or not into some of those modern rock bands that are too busy being over serious and playing it safe with the fashion!! Funflex could be a very good alternative for you :)

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars a good time band back in the game

Top 100 Music Reviewer

The B-52's are forever associated with Love Shack and The Flintstones song which has shadowed their much loved back catalogue and this new album for such a long time would no doubt get them back into the game and get peoples booties shaken on the dance floor.
