I´ve got every James album and this one is simply stunning, the band get better with age. Every track has something to capture your attention, hold it, then scramble your brain until you forget that any other band exists. There´s bits of classic James riffs, lyrics and the mood changes with each perfectly played track plus there´s a new mix of sounds never heard before. Every track has been put into its play list on the CD to take you on an emotional roller coaster. The lyrics to Hey Ma should be compulsory listening for the tin pot international terrorists Blair, Bush and Aznar, it sums up the anger they have generated with their illegal war on Iraq and its consequences. Unfortunately the CD will be probably be blacklisted by homeland security no doubt. James; you are the best bar none!
When´s the next album out, I´m getting in the queue now?

...a triumph. Seven men. Oodles of talent. Songs to inspire a new generation of music lovers. Songs to remind JAMES fans of yesteryear exactly why we loved them in the first place.

I challenge you to listen to this album and not find one song you sing over and over and over again in your head.

Frankly - there isn't a bad song amongst them. Personal favourites of mine are Upside and Of Monsters and Heroes and Men.

Go on - buy it - try to prove me wrong!

I've always loved James and was very sad to see Tim leave the band waaaay back in 2001. But this album is vintage stuff, like they've never been apart. The line-up has been altered again as Larry Gott and Andy Diagram have rejoined but there is no place for Michael Kulas or Adrian Oxxal but you will always recognize the James signature sound regardless of who is in the current line-up.

I think that even if you aren't a James fan that this album is very accessible so my advise is to buy it and give it ago!

James are back where they belong, creating great anthemic music that makes you feel good for the rest of the day,"Bubbles"and "Hey ma" sound like the old James that we know and love, the lyrics of "Hey Ma" are particularly good.
"Waterfall"sounds like Dylan With brass,With perhaps a dab of Ray Daviesesque vocal intonation.
"Oh my heart"is a rousing song that will go down with the audience in a live situation, fast paced and urgent this is james rocking at their best, great guitar in this!!
"Boom boom "is taken at a slower pace but once again builds into a kind of majestic epic.
"Semaphore" is a beautiful song, slow and reflective with some fine vocals by Tim Boothe whose words are delivered with remarkable clarity, and some wonderful playing by the rest of the band.
"Upside" reminds me of the scene In "Hard days night "when Ringo is walking the thames Towpath
until the chorus explodes when it is definately James playing!
"Whiteboy"is the first single and is magnificent dodging about like Ricky Hatton On a good night, loud and rocking, great brass in this as well.
"72" could be a U2 tune with a slight return to their earlier work produced by Eno.
"Of monsters Heroes and Men" has its routes firmly stuck in the "Laid " era of the band, very lyrical and dark, this could be this albums version of"We're going to miss you"which was a standout track from the last studio album
"I wanna go home" rounds up the album in fine form atypical brooding James type frack with a steady build up to the Crescendo at the end, a good return from a great band.
In an era when bands reunite for the money its great that James have done it for musical reasons.
The cover has been controversially banned in some quarters ,but on this showing the music speaks for itself.

Just when you thought "Pleased to meet you" was their final act, they decided to regroup and the result amazed us all. "Hey ma" is an absolutely genuine James Album. Not commercial, not something to make money of, only Pure James for our pleasure. It is as if time never passed by, as if this band was never split. I love this album and so should you!!!Every song speaks of it self and you just can't skip any of them!!!The only remark I can make is that I wanted mooore songs, moooore James!!!!!Let's hope for a special edition!Nevertheless, I can't wait to see them live in Greece!!!

James are back with a funky album that is their freshest sound for years. The album is laden with beautiful tracks, such as 'under the waterfall', bound to become a firm favourite. 'Upside downside' has now been refined from the version played in last year's tour (with Tim singing from a lyric sheet) and is one of the features of the album. No 'Chameleon' or 'Who are you?' (featured on 'Fresh as a Daisy') but still a wonderful return album up there with 'Laid'.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Good return!

I've been a james fan for years. I was disappointed with their last album 'Pleased To Meet You', thought that they all just sounded really bored with it.

"Hey, Ma" is splendid in comparison, some good classic james sounds. If you can imagine a mixture of "Goldmother", "Seven" and "Laid" albums then you won't be too far off with this.

But then go and see them live. They are better live than on CD.

Fantastic band. Good album.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars James better than ever!

This is a terrific return with uplifting choruses, big bass lines and euphoric melodies. A magical mix of the James of past with a new edge. In my humble opinion this is better than Millionaires and as good as Laid.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Legends.
