Discovered Brandi on Utube, why is she not played more in this country? Love every track on the album although "The Story" stands out for me. The album has been described as Folk, I think more Rock with a touch of KD Lang, loved it...........
Stunning vocal, memorable songs.

Saw her performance on Jools show & was very impressed. Ordered CD the next day from Play & its been on in the car ever since. For me theres about 6 standout songs, 'Losing Heart' being my personal favourite, I absolutely love it, but all of them are good in there own right.
Shes definitely not pop or even rock & not quite what you would expect country to be, she is a wonderful mix of the latter two & a breath of fresh air to someone looking for a new sound.
N.B. I would also recommend Daniel DeGraw as a very good artist who does'nt get much recognition over here.
A NICE Album

Took me totally by surprise and not normally my sort of thing, but one of those albums you just 'must have' to fulfill a certain mood. Every track is enjoyable, with some really catchy and memorable tunes. Brandis voice is strangely interesting and attention grabbing, but not at all annoying. This great product appeals to all ages and music tastes, fills the gap somewhere between Bonnie Raitt and Shania Twain I think. See what you think.
Stopped me in my tracks

It was late early 2007 and I was living in the US, had the TV on one of the music channels and was busy pottering away in the house when I heard this song playing - it stopped me in my tracks and I ran into the living room to see the title and artist as Brandi Carlile and The Strory. Her voice is amazing with a bluesy / folk / country twang to it. Absolutely loved it so went straight down to best buy and picked up the album. Ever since I have been back in the UK I have looked out for her but to no avail. Even though all my mates would always ask " who sings this - it's brilliant" every time they here it on at my house. And then last week - there she was on Jools Holland. She stopped in my tracks yet again. get the album ! It's a must - a brilliant voice coupled with moody, emotional and uplifting tracks. I just want to get to see her live !!
Awesome talent - a must have album

Stunning performance on Jools Holland that drove me to buy this. Prefer the live versions of The Story & Turpentine to those on this album. Great talent, buy the album but above all go and see her live.
Wow, I mean what a voice!
I was watching Jools Holland friday gone and they sometimes get good people on, I was half watching half doing something else when I saw this woman, and heard her amazing voice.
Such a powerful range, she stands out from other bands I have heard recently. 'The Story' for me was an amazing song, and the rest of the album is a treat.
I highly highly highly recommend this brilliant talent, one of those unique voices you just have to love. You will love it, I'm sure, you really deserve this if you love proper music.
