Joe has only done it again and pulled out all the stops to produce a beautifully sculpted collection of tracks. He covers an amazing range of tones and styles to provide yet another masterpiece. Personally I feel, after having only listened to the record once through, that this is one of his best studio albums. You have the Turkish influenced Asik Veysel which incorporates a wonderful sounding tapped intro following into a melee of cleverly constructed chord progressions and signature Satriani lead chops. Andalusia - his first acoustic based song, explodes as if from nowhere. There are beautiful melodies on this album including Come On Baby (written for Rubina, Joe's wife) and Out Of The Sunrise which is a very summery sounding, up-beat track which shall be enjoyed with a few glasses of Pimm's no doubt this year! Overdriver, Revelation and I Just Wanna Rock are the "heavier" tracks of the album with typical Joe Satriani-esque guitar playing. Professor Satchafunkilus and Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat are again quite up-beat and very Jazz influenced in sound. Musterion is similar to Not Of This Earth, with suspended sounding chords and sublime legato runs. All around this is a wholesome album and I feel worth every penny of the asking price. Just a shame I can't get to his London show this year!
