A soothing cup of tea for young Mr. Heafy's sore throat!

Was Crusade not supposed to be that good? Never realised. Anyway, bought this mainly for my son who's well into Trivium and Slipknot - AND NOT AT ALL FOR ME (I just. . . listen to it more!). I suppose to some, Trivium can sound a bit like a Florida regional finalist for Anthrax Soundalikes 2008 - you can definately hear the influence - but I think that would be a cheap dismissal of their massive sound. You can definately see what they were going for in this album; they certainly seem to have a bigger sound than the previous album, the title track standing out particularly - such a massive, sweeping epic of a song I've not really heard since Iron Maiden's 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' from their 'Powerslave' album, although it does seem to go a bit 'Tenacious D' towards the middle, but soon recovers.
One of the best metal-bashers this side of the 21st Century? Hmmmm, maybe.
Improvement

I brought the album because it was hyped up in many music magazines.
Having gone off Trivium after 'The Crusdae' I was pleasntly surprised, They have gone back to how they were and have become heavier in sound.
Although I still don't think it's as good as the CD was made out to be, hence the 4 star rating, other than that, I loved the CD
aces!

This album is awsome deffinatley an improvement form "the crusade"
Heafy has gone back to shouting agen however its nicely mixed in with his clean singing, coreys vocals seem deeper than ever :d
Catchey riffs, amazing druming and speedy solos throughout the album, although its not as heavy as ascendancy its a definate must have for trivium fans
The dvd is goo too, gives a good insight to the album and entertaining watching th band up to there antics.
