After listening to the new album through and through, i must say that over all it is a brilliant piece of work. However, anyone new to the band should be sure to listen to previous albums also as 'if' does not give a true indication of the quality of msi. The album is a bargain at this low play.com price, but one does feel somewhat cheated that tracks 7, 8, 9, 11,12, 14, 15 and 16 have been available on other cd's either in the form of demo or live versions, but these polished copies do make up for it a little by being some of the best bits of the album.
My advice to anyone reading this review would be to first of all buy msi's fgwsss album, then you'll rebel to anything and finally if. After all, you don't want to miss out on anything do you?

The new MSI album is one of the best of 2008. There's so many bands around nowadays that are boring and depressing to listen to ie Coldplay. But if you don't like Coldplay and want to have fun listening to music Mindless Self Indulgence are the band to listen to. Although MSI attract many My Chemical Romance fans because the bassist is married to Gerard Way to their shows, you can't help but to put up with that because you know that you're going to have an amazing time seeing MSI later that night. This happens every time you hear this album as the band always brighten my day up with their unique and fun songs and they are always a good listen. Favourite songs are ' Lights Out' and 'Mark David Chapman'.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars the most original band ive heard in a long time!

this band......WOW! what more is there to say? My friend turned me on to msi and ever since then ive been an addict! I listen to their songs every time i go running because it pumps me up! I guess you could call them electro-punk but theyre more than that. To be honest, there is no genre really to properly define this band. the album "frankenstein girls seem strangely sexy" isn't on play.com which is a let-down because, in my opinion, thats the best album of theirs. revenge is my favourite song on this album.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars 100% genius (again) =D

in my opinion MSI really cant do wrong, they maintain an underground status despite the fact they could easily go mainstream, u gotta admire that right? they not only make amazing catchy songs but put on amazing shows i saw em last year at the electric ballroom and they kicked ass. IF from the get go is great the first track 'never wanted to dance' really gets u ready for a great time ive probs listened to that the most, i mean i really thought they couldnt top you'll rebel to anything, but they totally have with IF, they really are an amazingly underated band with genuine talent and they deserve much more recognition than they have, but then again if they became totally mainstream would they be AS good? hmmm interesting :) great album buy it!!!!! :P

some of the songs are great some are ok some are pretty crap. that really sums up the album.
got all the other albums and mastermind on this record is the shining star im just hoping the rest of the album will grow on me as at the mo its incredabley old school cheesey disco feel to it. if your new to msi get a different album to get the swing of this group otherwise it will be a huge turn off instantly. fans will love it tho.

Having been a fan for some 8 years it still amazes me that MSI are as good as they were when I first started listening to them, and as annoying as it is to be surrounded by their newer teeny bopper fans at shows it has its plus points as they now have greater commercial success and as a result more opportunity to create awesome albums such as this. If you like original indefinable music bursting with raw energy and humor MSI are one of the few places you'll find it, buy this album, go see them live and give them money, lots of money, so they can keep making albums!

Top 100 Music Reviewer

Mindless Self Indulgence's 'If' has re-written the rule books on DIY as everything on here is a beutiful collage of sounds that gives us new to them the brattiest, snottiest, relentlessley ADD punk rock sound around as the aptly named Jimmy Urine is all riled up and ready to spit(or snog) on anyone foolish enough to get close with his wry, lippy lryics and falsetto quivers as he lets rip with tracks like Wanted to dance and Get it up taking a swipe at the opposition shows why they are a lot more known than for having a bass player that is married to MCR's Gerard Way!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A must have
