Great new album from The Raconteurs

Arriving at stores all of a sudden in March, Consolers of the Lonely is an exciting new album by the band The Raconteurs, featuring perhaps most famously Jack White of the White Stripes. One of the things about this album is that it is a very strong collection of rock and roll songs. The songs list is obviously inspired by 60 and 70 hard rock, reminding us of such bands as Led Zeppelin. The music isn't really fresh or feels new, however, The Raconteurs make up for it by having a set of strong songs. This is not a groundbreaking album, however, it is an essential and exciting affair that really lets Jack White stretch his imagination. Good fun.
Fantastic!

an amazing album and in my opinion an improvement on their first. tracks are catchy and with jack whites signature voice ever present where can they go wrong.
Top tracks include Salute Your Solution, Attention and Many Shades Of Black.
A must buy!
not lonely...still comforted

ah my dear jack and brendan how i loved both of your other works...jack with your likkle white stripes..and brendan with your lovely melody driven beatles copies...when you boys get together who knows what will happen...no but seriously..you cannot knock jack white not even a year(i think) after "icky thump" and here we are with a new Raconteurs disc...well done boys....i wasn't expecting too much and in some ways i got what i expected...but the songs are just so good that it still deserves a solid four stars..its just that i feel and maybe it's because i look at mr white as a musical hero of our age..that there could be sooooo much more...maybe i am just asking too much as when they can knock out such gems as the title track we should instead of criticising thank the lord they exist...
absolutly wicked! super funky fresh!

This album is brilliant, its keeps u interested all the way through with catchy songs and awesome guitar riffs and solos. From the super fast immense catchyness of "salute your solution" to the super cool chilloutness(that a word?) of "you dont understand me"
if your a fan of any form of rock then buy this album! if you dont u will surely be tied to a lampost and kegged.
Jack White can do no wrong and is a music genius!

Top 10 Music Reviewer
I have all the White Stripes ablums and the first Raconters ablum. Overall Consolers Of The Lonely is a stronger ablum then Broken Boy Soldiers and, has many different styles of music running through this masterful rock ablum. The tiltle track is very good and other favourites are You Don't Understand Me, The Switch And The Spur, Many Shades Of Black + These Stone Will Shout. I must say that I do enjoy all the songs and there are no fillers here really. Jack White is one of the best things to happen to rock music if not the best from this decade. If you have not heard or got a White Stripes ablum then I really strongly recommend the Elephant cd.
Outstanding

It was with some trepidation I put this on my CD player as I loved the first album and wondered if this was going to be a let down. It is very different but I have not been disappointed - it is fab and for me better than the first. There is very much a White Stripes feel to some of the tracks and a Brendan Benson touch to others but this is just one great album and I am sure is going to be my album of 2008.

Obviously a mash up of Mr Stripe and Mr Benson's talents and (in my humble opinion) not a dodgy track on it. Simply amazing.
Brilliant

If the Raconteurs first album was a fine introduction, then 'Consoler's of the Lonely' is certainly an emphatic confirmation of the band's quality and potential.
Opening with a couple of crushing slices of hard-edged blues-rock ('Consoler of the Lonely', 'Salute Your Solution') the album matures, twist and turns through its 14 varied, and more importantly, excellent tracks.
Brendan Benson's skills shine through on 'You Don't Understand Me' beautifully complimented by soaring 'storytelling' vocals from Jack White.
The influence of The White Stripes is more evident on this album than the first ('Five on the Five', 'Attention') but the vibe switches from garage-rock ('Hold Up') to epic blues-folk ('Many Shades of Black') at ease.
There's elements of The Who in the latter stages ('Rich Kid Blues', 'These Stones Will Shout') which give the album a classic-rock, maybe even progressive feel, which they do superbly. Patrick Keeler does his best Keith Moon impression on the fomer and White's crunching guitars throughout keep things rocking until 'Carolina Drama's beautiuful finale.
Even at 14 tracks it never feels too long and with a good pace, ecletic nature and a great combination of styles and musicianship, this is one of the albums of the year so far.
