Yeah, who else bought this album despite knowing most songs, or every song, already? There are a few Maiden compilations kicking about, but this one is fantastic. It still throws me when I listen to it and 'The Trooper' starts after a load of 'Powerslave' stuff, though ... But the album is Maiden's best years, in my opinion. But a great introduction to new fans? New fans should go and buy the albums! This is cheating!
not bad but all done before

agree that its nice to ave for the whole collection and wonder what they'll choose for '89 onwards. By the way that will/should include fear of the dark released in 92 and hence not on this album. up the Irons!
Great cd

There's 1 lil thing tht they missed if you went 2 c thm in twickenham you would know that this song was the best song from that night its Fear of the dark. I can't beleave they missed it. At the end of the day it was still a gd concert and its a great cd. A must buy 4 maiden fans or new iron heads. Keep rocking
Yes it's been done before. But who cares... It's Maiden!!!!!

Yes, this is aimed at the new people going to see Iron Maiden now. To introduce them to the old stuff. Yes, as a hardcore fan you'll have these tracks many times over. But what a collection!!! If you're a hardcore fan. Then you'll want this for the artwork alone to go with all your other CD's. The sound of the tracks is worth the money alone.
£9!!!!! A bargain!!!!! Yes I have these tracks, yes it's cashing in. But I don't care. This is a cracking CD and is worth every penny. Make your own playlist if you like. But there's no substitute for the CD arriving and having a look at the inlay book with the brilliant artwork that Maiden are renowned for. Worth every penny.
However. Do go and search out the original CD's and listen to them. You'll find just as many songs on them that are just as good...
Roll on Twickenham.... I'll well excited now!!!!
done before

This album is for those who are new to Maiden. Is it worth buying? yes. Its a good introduction to one of the best bands in this world. However it doesnt stop here.. If you're serious about metal and Maiden then dont wait long before purchasing their whole discography.
Up the Irons

As per previous reviewers, do yourself a favour and buy Live After Death- by far the Maidens best album -I also recommend Number of the Beast and Powerslave.
(But if you like Can I play with Madness, ignore previous reviewer; it wasn't on Live after Death.. it came 3 years after, on 7th Son - also worth having in your collection)
In summary, I'd buy this one because its easier than trying to make a complilation CD from my old dusty vinyl ;)
Rock on !
aaawwwweeesssoommmeee !!!

When a band is as good as maiden, its impossible to pick a selection for a "best of" album. My advice would be to go and buy the live albums and slip off to musical bliss amid bass, guitar, drums and vocals that beat the skin of the lugs in your head. If you haven't heard live after death you are missing something special. If you buy this you will want more...!!!!
5 for the music, 3 for the album

Yes, it's Iron Maiden, yes they are the biggest and best metal band of all time and yes, everyone should have all these songs in their collection, but to be honest, this is not the best way to hear them.
If you want to hear all but three of these tracks (Wasted Years, Can I Play With Madness and The Evil That Men Do) played like they were meant to be played, ignore this release and instead invest in a copy of the 1985 album 'Live After Death'.
Maiden live is Maiden how Maiden should be heard. No overdubs, no re-takes, just the best band in the world giving it everything in front of thousands of adoring fans.
Of course, once you have heard the album you will feel compelled to go straight out and buy all their studio albums, but don't worry - this is a natural reaction to hearing the best album from the best band the world has ever seen!
