I've read many reviews of this album saying that it doesn't live up to their debut - but don't believe everything you read!
This album is very different to their debut - it's more 'polished' in it's overall sound/production, synths are more prominent, and I suppose there is more of a soft-rock/disco feel to it... but no matter what sound it could be labelled as, it is a fantastic album.
Stand out tracks for me include Jåger Yoga, Left Behind and How I Became Paranoid, but saying that, the rest of the tracks aren't to be discounted as they are all catchy, well-written songs, and the album flows very nicely.
CSS have changed their sound very successfully on this release. Don't expect the same songs as what were on their previous album, this one is certainly different, but different in a good way.
Yes this album is less filthy however this album is just so damn nice in perticular 'Believe Achieve' and 'Air Painter' you cant help feel that this is a band that will evolve and try and change their sound.
Quite honestly i love this album cause each track is experimental and every time i listen i discover somethine new such as how the lyrics make me laugh and smile.
''I'm a black eyed raccoon, working from the moon'' - Air Painter
Just a damn lovely album. CSS SUXXXX
I think that even though the "rawness" of CSS has gone. it has been replaced with a more disginuised, fuller sound on the electronic side. I thought "Rat Is Dead" was quite a good song.
They said their next album would be grown up. It just seems weaker than the last. This seems more like a debut album rather than a second album, as to say, it's good, just not so much compared to Cansei de Ser Sexy. Toe tapping, thumping beats are infectious but the lyrics don't really make you want to sing along. It seems they could have done a lot more here.
The album lacks a lot of the energy that the first offering gave, but it's still a good album. It lost 1 star for its lack of energy and for not getting my attention. The other star any other band would have got, but as it's CSS and they should have done better this time, I took that star. It's enjoyable, but may be a let down to original fans.
