Amazing. This band has just re-invented itself for the 21st century. Steve Perry was the master vocalist, but Arnel Pineda's reworking of the classic songs blew me away. And then I listened to the new songs - absolutely superb. This is all the best bits for the Frontiers, Escape, Trial By Fire and Raised on Radio brought together and thrown out it one cracking album. Generations was poor, and Arrival not much better - but this is Journey at their very, very best. It is typical Journey, so if you are looking for something very different, you will be disappointed - but if you yearn for Perry at his best, Pineda delivers. I have no doubt that some of the songs will become classics.

I had my friend in America order this Revelation pre release for me. It's magic. What a voice Arnel Pineda has. No offence to Jeff Scott Soto, he did a great job when I went to see Journey in Manchester last year. There's only one Steve Perry but boy does this guy come very close. He's amazing. I am sooooooooo looking forward to seeing Journey in my home town of Dublin this week. Disk 1 is packed with great new tracks such as 1. Never Walk Away, 3. Change For The Better, 5. Faith In The Heartland, Disk 2 well what can I say it's bril. This is a must buy for all you Journey fans.

been a journey fan since i saw them support pat travers at the rainbow in london in `77.when steve perry left i lost interest but still listened to the albums which were quite a mixed bunch.saw them in nottingham last year with jeff scott soto and i thought they were fantastic.heard the new singer and thought WOW ! its steve perry ! i think after all this time it seems unfair that every time a new vocalist joins,we compare him to mr perry.we should be judging him on HIS voice, not who we think he should sound like.this album is simply stunning especially the rerecorded hits disc.i`m looking forward to seeing them on the 27th in nottm, should be a cracking night.just found out john parr is supporting-good excuse to have a few more pints in the pub.

Since they first split in 1987 I've been living the dream that one day they'll release a record to compare to the watershed 80's albums "Escape", "Frontiers" and the genre defining classic "Raised On Radio". I am overwhelmingly delighted to say that day has now arrived. In my humble opinion, Steve Perry is the greatest Rock & Soul singer on the planet .... but he quit .... Life goes on .... get over it ...... What mssrs Schon & Cain now have is fresh impetus bestowed upon them by the discovery of Arnel Pineda. His is a voice comparable in parts to the great Mr Perry, especially on the more uptempo tracks, while leaving his own stamp on the Journey ballad quota. Lyrically, they're never going to challenge the likes of U2 or Radiohead or even Springsteen. Musically however, they've created arguably THE feelgood rock album of the millenium. "Never Walk Away" "Where Did I Lose Your Love" & "Change For The Better" would not be out of place on any of their so called "Heyday" albums, whilst refusing to sound dated. Of the ballads, the darker "What I Needed" and lighter waving "Turn Down The World Tonight" come out on top. However, it's the fact that every track holds your attention long enough to persevere that really impresses. After a couple of listens you're hooked. Well done guys .... look forward to the next one and can't wait to catch the tour .............
ps .... A live DVD is available free with the US release ..... well worth the hassle ......

Having just got home from work I saw that the lovely people from PLAY had managed to deliver the new Journey cd on release date.
Now, I am only on track 8 of my first listen and all I am gonna say is this is an essential purchase, it's an absolute classic in the making!
The voice of Arnel Pineda on his first outing with Journey is a big WOW, I love both Steves (Perry and Augeri) and now Arnel comes into the fold to further the Journey story. No offense to Jeff Scott Soto (who has a great voice, both as a solo artist and in his other bands) but I can see why Arnel is in the band, he is both Steves combined. The rockers on this album ROCK and the ballads are some of the best that Journey have ever come up with.
A big nod has to go to the production, Kevin Shirley has done a fantastic job.
To some up, Revelation is a revelation! Now go and buy, you won't be disappointed, you'll be humming this cd for weeks! Now I can't wait to listen to the second disc of re-recorded Journey classics!

Finally a Journey cd that lives up to the anticipation.

Its been too many years since they rocked out like this!

The potential disaster that could have come from finding your new singer on u-tube are banished with their best album for well over a decade.

The bonus disc is interesting, with a "re-imagining" of some Journey classics. The production quality of the bonus cd has a recored live in the studio feel that really helps the songs. The point of this bonus cd is still a little lost on me, but the songs still stand up and the new singer does an admirable job on the Perry classics.

One slight issue though (and why not the full 5 stars) is the lack of the 3rd disc that the USA release has. This 3rd disc is a live concert DvD which would have made this package perfect.

I know Europe gets a bonus track compared to the USA version, but do the math, bonus track or concert DvD? Which would you prefer?

I imported my copy.
