UB40 totally dominate the 'white' reggae scene.
Their sound is so distinctive and it will be interesting to see how the absence of Ali affects them.I got this album free with the paper ( 10 track version) and it is SUPERB.
I cannot wait to get the full version.Each song is a joy and seems to be back to doing what they do best (like the last album) and not exploring the muddiness of studio trickery about from one track that sounds a little uncomfortably like CHER's vocal experimenting.But this is a great album to have in the car on a hot sunny day.It sounds great and makes you feel the same.All the usual political and cultural observations are there but make no mistake that this album is all about the MUSIC.
It will be so sad to not have ALI in their line-up but hopefully Duncan will bridge the gap.Full marks for producing such a quality album, so far down the road of their careers and long may they continue.!!!!

twentyfourseven is such a lovely album to cherish and to hold as its soulfulness means its hard to press the skip button since Ali Campbell alongside the band first came into view on the back of such successful tracks such as "Red Red Wine" the sonny and cher cover "I got you babe" sung alongside Chrissie Hynde and the iconic track "I can't help falling in love with you"

Just comes to show there is plenty of life in the old dog yet!

i have all of ubs cds but lads come on this isnt very good without alis voice they sound like a kareoke group, there last cd "who are you fighting for" is the group at there best but this just dosnt flow , new singer duncan just dosnt have the voice of hes brother ali , some good songs on here like dance untill the morning light, lost and found and rainbow nation are all vintage ub40 but way too many fillers, get ali back soon lads

2 years on since the grammy nominated album 'Who You Fighting For' UB40 come back with a startling new album. The musical compositions twinned with the excellent lyrics make twentyfourseven one of the most credible albums of the year, and I have listened to a lot already, this is quality stuff. Powerful political songs "The Road' 'End Of War and 'Oh America' neighbour wonderful ballads such as the delightful masterpiece 'I'll Be There' It is apparent there are a lot of members in this band and it is evident that quality input has not been in short supply. The songs pass smoothly from one to the next and are littered with surprises, in the background we are treated to clever harmonies and counter melodies. Overall a smashing album that packs a PUNCH large enough to knock a dinosaur out.

This put it simply is one of their best albums ever!! Catchy lyrics from End of War, I'll Be there, and their excellent new single Lost and Found. Might not be as good as Who you fighting for? but contains very good music and lyrics of their own original material.
