As a music fan i hate when slipknot fans say they " suck " now because they dont swear as much and they have introduced some melody and solos. That is just childish and stupid. Volume 3 is an amazing album BEACUSE of the no swearing, the melody and the solos. And also the songs. This album is also brilliant. gematria is as heavy as Iowa without any of the juvenile lyrics and br00talz noise. Sulfur is catchy as hell and Vendetat kicks all kinds of arse. good Job. Plus the production is fantastic. never thought I'd say it - but thank god they ditched Rick "Ruin". Death magnetic by Metallica has horrible production.
Massive letdown

After hearing the appalling new single I was wondering whether to even bother getting this, but in the end I decided I couldn't have an incomplete collection of Slipknot CDs so I bought it in the hope that it might be ok. It's not. The only song I can really listen to is Gematria, other than that they've just lost what made them a great band. It continues what started with Vol 3, the demise of the nine.
Still going to see them soon though, they'd better play more of the old decent stuff and less of this rubbish.
Solid without achieving past excellence

While this album is good and does have some a few great tunes, it seems to lack the magic that soke songs on previous slipknot albums achieved such as 'Sic' and 'Before I Forget'. Also it is more of a mix of old slipknot and stonesour with some of the songs taking a more melodic approach.
Overall worth buying, but dont expect anything to heavy!!
Doesn't disappoint

Every songs awesome! Joey's drumming's great!
The best song's Dead memories, sulfur, physcosocial,Snuff, vendetta, butcher's hook, til we die. I love this album. Fans who don't like the stonesour style songs maybe won't like this album as much. But you should definately try listening to it though.
On fine form

Easy to get into and does not disappoint. Slipknot seem to move on from the safety of their past offerings and in my book it adds more dimension. I bought the cd and dvd pack and the extra is worth it. Stands above Metallica's latest.
Hell yeah!

This album is awesome, anyone who says it is the same as another of their albums is wrong, it's totally original but with the sound of Slipknot. A must buy for any Slipknot fan!
A little different, but still good

This is a very strange album. It feels like there's no consistency in the style of metal it is; sometimes it seems like new age death metal like Slipknots other albums, and at other times the guitar solos seem quite 'old school'. Also I found the vocals in some songs to be quite a different experience to the usual slipknot, sometimes I expect they would be much to soft for hardcore fans. Certain songs make me feel somewhat shortchanged; because of these weak vocals they seem like little effort has been put into them. That said, the album isn't bad, but it's not amazing as I'd hoped, yet I will certainly be listening to it for a while. Slipknot are one of my favorite bands so I will naturally try enjoy this CD, but if you are a newcomer to their music the older albums are much better.
The Wait Is Over !!

I personally love this album. Like said before it's not Iowa and it's not self-titled, it's got more of an subliminal verses taste over it. It's one more masterpiece from the nine. In this album you will find hard, medium and soft, all with the quality you'd expect from Slipknot. They really show you that they rock every aspect of their genre.
This is KNOT STONE SOUR PT2 - thought i'd SLIP that in......

OK so when Corey Taylor sings clean he is bound to sound like when he sings clean on Stone Sour and apart from Snuff, Dead Memories and Child of Burning Time, all of which could happily sit on a Stone Sour album and all are great songs, this is Slipknot through and through.
Slipknot used to be thought of as all image and no substance in the early days and in my opinion with their 4th release have proven they can merge heaviness with melody while still retaining the slipknot weirdness.
Intro is typical Slipknot and the opening 3 tracks are heavy and yet melodic at the same time - this is more in the vein of Vol 3 than perhaps the early albums like Iowa but if Slipknot produced the same album then we'd be bored (Note to Staind - please let the next album be as good as your first - Dsyfunction!)
Gehenna is particularly dark and sombre but has a melodic tone to it's chorus and All Hope is Gone ends the album with a BANG!
It comes to 2 points - does it rock and kick ass - YES
Are the songs any good - another YES
I think this is a great album and it has currently not been off my stereo but to end this and in the words of Corey 'GO AHEAD AND DISAGREE...'
