Only 2 tracks are good. And the rest are just average. I love kol. But with this album, they gone more mainstream and that has caused them to lose their spark. Its sad really. Because all the break-thru bands out there. Have move from what made them stand out to modern day average band.
Hopefully they will go back to what made them kol. Right now there kol average.
Sadness i may add.

This album is truely a great album. I have all there albums and this is a great addition. I totally dont agree with firstofficerp's review and do not understand why he gave it 1 star when admitting to liking the first 4 tracks and then track 11 is very similar in style to the 1 and 4.

So far its 29 against 1.....do the math people....buy this album.

Be open minded with this i will say. Caleb does express himself more vocally than before and i have only 2 words to say and those are - "about time" (in a good way)

It opens up the future for more great songs and i cant wait to hear them live again (december ;-))

If, like me, you have been a KOL fan for some time, you may well find yourself rather under-whelmed by their latest offering. The album starts promisingly enough, but, I'm afraid to say, gets progressively worse, in fact boring, as the album wears on. The band have made a marked departure from their sound that set them apart in the first two albums, and the experimentation found in the third album has not been built on in the slightest. I am sad to say that KOL have simply become yet another run-of-the-mill, dull and uninspiring band. You will hear certain "music lovers" rave about this album, but I bet not one of these so called fans ever owned any KOL pre-Sex On Fire.

Aiming for a run in the top 10 singles chart may bring in the pay cheques, and earn some shallow fans along the way, but a long lasting rock outfit that stands the test of time, they are not.

This is a huge disappointment after their last 3 excellent albums.

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars very poor for KOL

When i heared that kol where working on a new album i couldn't wait but now i've got my hands on it, it's very poor. I have been a fan from day one. All those who rate this album a 5 stars don't know what their on about. The best kol album by far is 'aha shake heartbreak' only_by_the_night is slow compared to there other stuff. Hope that they can go back to there older ways.

I'm a huge K.O.L fan , been listening to them from the beginning , this album is worth buying , but I prefer Because of The Times . And I'm not just saying that to be a pain , I understand that all bands evolve and try new stuff , it's just a personal opinion. However , you won't regret buying this album.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Good, but certainly not their best.

In my opinion its nothing compared to aha shake heartbreak. Sex on fire is pretty good, but the album is let down by other songs, on the whole I much prefer earlier kings of leon, but i've seen other bands I love release much worse albums than this.

Having bought all the previous kings albums and seen them live i was anticipating something really special with the new album !!
Take away the first 4 tracks which are some of the best things they have done and whats left ...hopefully 7 slow burners
I particularly disliked revery
Maybe a case of being too quick a follow up from the previous album.
I live in hope that it gets better with age

Ok so us 'old-school' kol fans can be accused of snobbery but please, this band have totally lost it. I could handle the new slick, pretty-boy videos, the relentless marketing drive (do we still need the heavy tv advertising?) and the legions of new fans and worthless accolades but the fact remains this is, by their exacting standards, a weak album. Only 'crawl', 'closer' and at a push 'sex on fire' would grace any of their previous albums. Everything else is just bland. Much has been made of the move to a bigger, more stadium-friendly sound, but this seems to have been at the expense of the killer hooks and inventive arrangements of before. Whilst i don't begrudge them of their commercial breakthrough i hope the band can soon rediscover the energy and swagger of earlier, leaner times. Then again, with mark ronson remixing their back catalogue, i'm starting to fear the worst!

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars so very disappointing

I miss the old, less chart-friendly KOL. They have lost their classic sound and traded it in for a much more dull and mainstream one, they are capable of much, much better than this.
