I'm an avid Albert Collins fan and try to collect what ever I can.

So I stumbled on these recordings. They are both live concerts. CD 1 contains a gig at Filmore West, the second CD is a gig at the El Mocambo Club Toronto Canada 1973.

Both are great shows, showing Albert in very good form. Unfortunaly, the sounds quality is medicore at best. Specially the Filmore gig seems to be recorded by accident. There is so much rumble (probaly from a tape recorder) that you can hardly hear te concert. Hightones are mainly absent, which has a bad effect on Albert's high pitched guitar style.

The second CD is better, but you can still hear that it's a bad recording. And more than once the sound channel gets overloaded.

However, they are unique shows because there are not that many old performances available from Albert.

The only reason I'm writing this review is to prevent other people from thinking they are buying a fully cleaned and remasterd CD. It may save you a… more »
