Very much an up to date beachboy sound that all ages will enjoy.
Attic Lights are yet another amazing guitar-pop outfit from Glasgow, following the masters Cosmic Rough Riders and Teenage Fanclub.
If, like me, your tired of the middling, crashing, vocally mundane "indie" noise, or the whining sorrowful bleakness of the Muse and Coldplay-alikes, that radio stations and music TV channels constantly pump out to seemingly please their "demographic", then for the love of "God", buy this.
Then buy it for everyone else you know.
Like the Cosmics and Fannies, Attic Lights have made this album full of feel-good, sunny pop at it's best.
The musical equivalent of the getting your best friends together, going camping and having a barbecue party on a warm July Saturday evening. In a picturesque countryside cornfield. While the girls with cute plaits in their hair dance around to it playing on the stereo. At sunset.
Taste life. Listen to Friday Night Lights.
Great new band, a must buy for those who want to be part of the next big thing
At last having seen them lots the album arrives and does not disappoint. Great tracks from start to finish. How good is this..........
Just saw these tonight. Supported Camera Obscura, and they were great, better than Camera Obscura... and they were ace.
I'm sure it's what every man jack says, but, if you had half an ear for Teenage Fanclub you're going to like this. Just well crafted songs, delicious harmonies, pop hooks, west coast, Big Star...ohh you know the rest. Indie schmindie.
It sounds as though someone in the rehearsal room had a great riff, after that the song wrote itself, a circle completed.
Not that I mean it's ordinary or obvious, I'm in danger of making it sound like just another band on the indie slag heap, but no... When pop really works there's just that little bit of room for a glimpse of magic, and it's that that takes your heart, lifts you.
Eff me; I love pop music when it's good, and this is good.
Four out of five? One in a hundred thousand thousand is a four, fives are those all time solid gold, test of time, rare rare records.
