- Third studio album from the all-conquering UK indie quartet. 'X & Y' took over 18 months to record, but the sessions provided Coldplay with 'Speed Of Sound' - their first US top ten single. This album is a natural progression from 2002's 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head', and was produced by the band in collaboration with Danton Supple and Ken Nelson.

Coldplay are amazing, their songs are amazing and this album is amazing. I loved every song fantastic!
with their 2000 debut parachutes and the excellent follow up 2002's a rush...confirming them as one of britains best bands,2005's x&y however is bland and a step back its no way near as bold as a rush instead pandering to the american market with bland ballads such as fix you and what if sure the sentiments seem real but coldplay sold out with this record.hopefully viva la vida (strange title) will see them back to their best.this is in no way a bad album there is some good tracks but im just not convinced by it.three stars.
One of the best albums ever!

Coldplay are amazing. Let's face it, they're not cool, hip or modern. But they have tonnes of heart in their music.
They are emerging as one of the modern day greats and soon Coldplay will be the best band out there.
'Square One' a relatively blazing way to start an album.
Every single song on this album is brilliant.
'Fix You' replaces 'The Scientist' as there epic tear-jerker.
The first single 'Speed of Sound' is a epic yet peaceful work of genius and 'Talk' proves that Jonny Buckland is one heck of a guitarist.
'A Message' delivers a hint of subtlety yet builds into an epic guitar-fueled ending.
'Swallowed in the Sea' is just one of the best songs I've ever heard. Simple as that. How it wasn't a single is beyond me. I can't put it into words. It is simply extraordinary.
Thank you Coldplay. Thank You Very Much.
