Travis at their best! I to went to see the preview show of this album and people dont lie about them being one of the best live bands but this album showed Travis playing to their strengths and no, unlike the previous review their greatest hits DID NOT SHOW UP THIS ALBUM. So whats different about this album compared to the hoiusehold travis that people know? Well, they are all playing to their strengths in this album, the lead guitarist ANDY is finally unleashed as is Neil the drummer. The songs are catchy and will have you jumping as they do rock and as much as i like snow patrol, they dont compare to the class that are travis. This is a rock album like their first and not to indie like the man who. It wont get much air time which is a big shame but check out the new single to be released 15th sept on youtube "something anything"
Cant believe what i read!a rock guitar album? Ive loved travis since day one,the first album was raw, edgey and melodic.this is no where near.this album stands beside 12 memories as dull and boring.wheres the hooks and catches?poor production.q mag said a return to form.i say travis are sinking fast!first a naf coldplay album ,now travis.oasis next?.get your acoustics out lads me thinks.
I was lucky enough to catch one of the club gigs Travis did to preview some of this stuff, and was pleasantly surprised. There are some very good little tunes on this, although they were all shown up by the greatest hits set they did after. Not the best I've ever heard from the band, but still very good. I'll definitely be investing in this one.
Some of the songs im finding dull, and some others such as something anything and chinese blues really good. I would like to say that i'm not one of these people who like to put down a great bands newest offering (because that's what travis are - great - i love their early stuff and also the boy with no name) i loved coldplay's viva la vida and rem's accelerate, and i tend to hate thinking badly of a new album from one of my top bands. Some areas of ode to j smith are dissapointing me right now, but i'm going to give it a few more listens, if my opinion changes, ill give a new review :)
First of all its no Good Feeling or The Man Who, but why should it be that was then and this is now!!! This album has seen all the lads put there own stamp on the album and it works so well, i've been a fan for years. This album shows maturity and feeling...it might not be a rock album but just turn off the light and listen to it from the lyrics to the melodies in my eyes its perfect and there always at there best....check the song Quite Free amazing guitars, chinese blues and before you were young......
