Day And Age

Fantastic. Very very diverse to what you may associate with the Killers. Hot Fuss was emotionally driven with thick electronic vocals. Sams Town was a big ballsy American album that was loud and atmospheric.
Day and Age is something else, its not even a combination of the two. Its probably as far away from any of the other albums as it possibly can be. Some of the tracks actually want to make you get up and instantly dance eg. Human and I can't Stay. Some songs are very catchy and the words are instantly stamped into your head.
Possibly, the only downfall with the album is the 'experiemental' 'Goodnight, Travel Well'. Or, maybe it just hasnt had time to grow me which normally happens with every Killers song.
Absolutely delighted with the album and Ive had it on constantly, in the gym, in the car, even at work! If this album does not win album of the year then there's something seriously wrong.

This is the 3rd album cos the 'sawdust' album was just b-sides and doesnt really count so play got that right and your wrong

For 5.49€ I bought this newest The Killers album...and man was I surprised! It's clearly the best album they've done. Tracks like: Spaceman, Human, Joy Ride & A Dustland Fairytale are just pure awesomeness! Day & Age is a must buy for every Killers fan out there and perfect album to get to known them. Buy it!

I bought this album as soon as it was released and despite a lack of decent comeback albums this year the killers manage to return without sounding like bruce springsteen or new order. In short this album is a mix of both genres.

I'll come clean i wasn't a big fan of human at first, i though it a bit slow, a bit cheesy and confusing. But after a few listens human picks with its poppy tune guitar and drum beat in the second verse and its well worth a listen. Other standout tracks are spaceman (which i frst heard live at leeds) which starts of very much like a track straight from hot fuss, with its stadium rock opening and up beat chorus, but with some slight patchy lyrics. I also enjoyed Losing Touch which combines the indie springsteen guitar with the new order sound of hot fuss which brings a delightfully diverse track. The last few song are a bit unmemorable (like hot fuss weirdly) but the value of the first seven tracks are worth your time.

It can't be compared to either killers album as it sounds so different. If you liked The previous albums there is no guarantee you will like this.

Since their debut album the Killers have always strived to take a different direction with each album and it works, Hot Fuss was excellent for it's time of release and while some songs were grossly overhyped, tracks like Mr Brightside still shine on today, like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun.

Personally from a fan perspective, Sam's Town is their best, the direction was right for them and almost every track oozed quality.

Now their third main album Day and Age is yet another brilliant direction, not quite as good as Sam's Town but nonetheless decent; the eighties throwbacks are actually quite minimal and if one thing can be said about it, the album is most definitely their most diverse and mostly in a good way.

For me Human, while good is overrated, Spaceman is the track of the album here, back up by suitably solid songs that are A Dustland Fairytale, Neon Tiger and The World We Live In, the rest of the tracks bar one or two are "growers" but overall it's another awesome album from the band.

My advice to anyone wanting to get into The Killers though is to first buy Sawdust (currently £5) which is a collection of the best songs from their first and second albums in remixed form with many other quality B-sides and then purchase Day and Age with an open mind, for everyone else though who knows what they like, get this album and smile like you mean it. :)
