Great debut album, classc riffs that wll have you bopping and moshing all around your bedroom. Shame there isn't a few more tracks on the album which is my only negative point about this album. 10 songs seems quite a short debut and the overall album time is a mere 35 mins or so. If you loved the Darkness you will love this, has as much pop appeal if not more than the Darkness. Good work Justin
Hot Leg will take over the world, you can be damned sure about that!!
Man Rock is taking over, this album proves it. If Justins vocals aren't enough to get you going(are you mad???) then you have the lightning fast, finger blurring, guitar shredding from Pete Rinaldi. You have the awesome bass skills of Sam Stokes, and drum bashing from Derby Todd that would give any rock fan a hardon!
Buy the album, get 12 of your friends to buy it, then an angel will visit you and grant you access to 3 man rock concerts. If you dont you will die...
Great music, great.
I've seen them perform this album a number of times - really really good, fun and admirable!
Loved the Darkness, hate Stone Gods, so what of Hot Leg? Weeeeeeellllll.... after a decidedly dodgy start with the plain silly Chickens, the album does get better. Some great riffs in there, and plenty of Justin's falsetto. However, it tends to fall into the same trap as The Darkness' 2nd album: too fussy and over-produced. There's virtually no room to breathe in the songs, and the odd keyboard parts, rather than sounding quirky (e.g. Sparks) come across as sounding silly and out of place. The overproduction is going to make it hard to perform convincingly live too, but I'll find out about that shortly. Anyhoo... it's growing on me (ahem!) and is worth a listen, but I suggest maybe borrowing it from the library for a listen first, before committing your cash to what is an appallingly short album.
I've seen Hotleg live 4 times and they have never disappointed. Last time was in The Viper Room in Hollywood and they stormed it. This album is loaded with fantastic rock riffs and catchy lyris, and plenty of rock grunts.
Don't believe the slur that Chickens is a joke song, I thought the same at first but it definitely holds it's own after a few listens.
The only problems, as already mentioned is that it's too short, especially as Hot Leg have already written several new tracks for the next album which is nowhere to be seen at present.
LOVE IT!
