Top 100 Music Reviewer

It's hard to believe that I am only the second person to review this album!

I can confidently say that if you like your indie music then you will absolutely love this. Fans of Arcade Fire, for example, should purchase now without hesitation.

It's one of the best albums of the decade comfortably. At first it may seem a little daunting due to the length and number of songs but stick with it because Sufjan consistently writes absolute gems.

Highly recommended.

Stevens music is very refreshing to listen to and this album is a utterly brilliant. He cleverly incorporates a range of musical instruments to produce beautifully constructed melodies and soothing harmonies, yet there is also a large range of upbeat, foot-tapping, smile inducing songs to enjoy. The vocals are delightful and his voice is superb. You will find there are alot of songs which you will find yourself singing later in the day.

You don't have to be an Illinois/American citizen to appreciate the music, Stevens has managed to created an album which will appeal to anyone.

Overall, its a well balanced, well written album which is one of the best I have listened to for a while. The album evolves as you listen, and with some peculiar interludes Steven's doesnt let the album stutter or break. Its difficult to write a list of stand-out songs as there are so many.

Mix Modest Mouse, with Polyphonic Spree, Cat Stevens and Damien Rice. Thats as close as I can describe it, and it could be argued to be totally wrong! It takes maybe one or two listens to get used to, as Steven's folk indie style is not heard of much. Definately worth a listen.
