R&B sensation, Seal, ventures back in time to cover a selection of the soul genre's greatest tracks on his sixth studio album, Soul. Delivering an alluring mixture of the distinct emotional vocals and unique arrangements that have made him a Grammy Award winner, Seal presents a timeless and sincere album that marks the perfect coming together of both man and material.

Since he burst into the music scene in the early nineties, Seal has continuously graced the UK charts with blistering hits. With these celebrated songs, including the acclaimed 'Kiss From A Rose' and 'Crazy', he has shown that he is a talented solo artist that can transcend genres with his powerful voice. Now with Soul, the singer-songwriter steps away from belting out his original material, to interpret and reinvent some of the world's best loved tracks. Opening with R&B legend Sam Cooke's 'A Change Is Gonna Come', Seal unveils his seductive adaptations with stone-cold aplomb. While the Ann Peebles' guitar laden 'I Can't Stand The Rain' gives Seal an opportunity to ignite his rockier side, the funky version of Deniece Williams' bass laden 'Free' is an up-tempo party track that bristles with '70s inspired sounds. Going on to confidently tackle one of the world's most recognised songs with Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me', Seal brings the classic track into the modern day with confident chord progressions and husky, quavering vocals. As the spine-tingling versions of Al Green's 'I'm Still In Love With You' and James Brown's 'It's A Man's Man's Man's World', regain the essence of the genre in hauntingly brooding style, the sensual love songs of Otis Redding's 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' and Kenny Gamble's 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' add a touch of romance to emphasise the contemporary interpretation that has been taken with this album. By reigniting the classic tracks with a modern twist Seal has reinvented their sound to make them his own without losing any of their initial charm.

The subtle yet effective production work of fifteen-time Grammy Award winning record producer David Foster brings Soul to life. By underlining each track with earthy, organic arrangements and funky beats that allow focus to be placed on Seal's caressing vocals, the songs are interpreted in a way that enhances their inspirational feel without losing any effect. Regaining all of the enthusiasm and familiarity that lay within the original recordings, Seal presents a passion-filled album that is a fitting tribute to the great soul songs of all time.
