Removing herself from the midst of controversy and tabloid tales, pop princess Britney Spears returns with her sixth studio album, Circus. Walking a tight-rope over recent times, Britney Spears is back to let her music speak for itself with an irresistibly up-tempo and catchy pop album.

Moving past the personal drama that lent itself lyrically to the majority of her last album release, the synth-laden Blackout, Britney Spears is back in confident form with a selection of pop rock confections. Opening with the staccato-beat filled hit single 'Womanizer' Circus shows a bright and refreshing side to the newly reformed Britney Spears as she revisits and reworks some of her most celebrated styles and sounds. While 'Piece Of Me' producers Bloodshy & Avant bring to life the melodic 'Unusual You', Max Martin who wrote and produced her 1998 breakthrough hit '...Baby One More Time', demonstrates his perfect pop arrangements on the saucy stomper 'If You Seek Amy'. Touching on R&B stylistics on the sleek 'Lace And Leather' and 'Kill The Lights', Britney Spears shows that she is capable of adapting her voice as she launches from the slow-rocking 'Blur' into the funky 'Mmm Papi'. The acoustic guitar led 'Out From Under' is a tingling power ballad that resembles her 2001 hit 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' and sees Britney Spears hitting thunderous high notes with delicate precision. As the album draws to a close, 'My Baby', reminiscent of her debut album track 'Born To Make You Happy', is a colossal heart-wrenching ballad that marks a mature step for Britney Spears both lyrically and vocally.

Despite difficult bouts in her personal life, Britney Spears shows with Circus that she has grown as an artist. By working with a selection of producers that she has previously worked with and is introducing for the first time with this album, Britney Spears has been able to build on her own reputable techniques to add futuristic flourishes that will appeal to both her established fans and new-found Britney Spears listeners alike.

Circus is also available in a CD & DVD Edition.

After the critical success of Blackout, I really wished Britney had stuck to the dancier productions as it was IMO her best album. However, with Circus returning to a more pop orientated formula, the album doesnt fall too far short from the quality of Blackout. Productions sill from Danja and Bloodshy and Advant make the album, also with tracks like Womanizer and If You Seek Amy, Kill the Lights and Unusual You help keep the standard of the album on parr with Blackout.

There is some filler ie, Lace and Leather and My Baby, But the Delux Edition cancells this out with amaizing bonus tracks like Phonography and Amnesia.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars This is not a comeback, because she never went anywhere

I am a huge fan of Britney. Have been since the start. Blackout never really gave Britney the sales she deserved so after sorting her life out, she presented us with Circus. Womanizer and Circus in my opinion are already 2 britney classics. The album is very experimental and reminds me of her fourth album. Other great tracks include Out from under, Kill the lights, If you seek amy and Amnesia.

The album gets only 4 stars because it is a good album but i do not like it as much as her last album because 2/3 tracks really spoil the album and personally i prefer albums that stick to one genre and this album does not. However this album seems to have got Britney back in the charts and as one of her songs says "She is the queen of pop".

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Slightly Disappointing

I was really hoping that Britney would bring out an album, where every track stands out. Especially after everything that has happened. Unfortunity, it hasn't met this expectation for me. She doesn't have the energy that she once did in her other albums. There are 5 songs out of the 14 that stand out for me. [Womanizer, Circus, Kill The Lights, Shattered Glass & Radar]--------Lace And Leather is the worst track on the CD - i can't even listen to it.
Listen to it fully before you make a purchase on this CD. I prefer her old music.
