This is literally the best album I own. It's impossible to put it into words but I'll try anyway. I melt every time I listen. Each track flows effortlessly into the next, you barely even notice the change. It's perfect either for intense listening, or to have on whilst studying, or simply to lie back and shut your eyes and just relax. I often listen when I'm walking in nature, and it makes me appreciate everything so much more. It's easy to tell from the album that Sigur Ros were inspired by their wonderfully unique home country of Iceland. One of the best things about this album is that you can listen an infinite amount of times and not get bored of the songs at all, and each time I listen, I notice something new. I've heard them so much now that I know every single subtle sound, and it's all so perfect. I just keep listening and listening.

If you're not used to this sort of music, or have never even heard the band before, a good introduction to them is a particular song on this CD called 'Hoppipolla', that most people would recognise without knowing the name, from the BBC planet earth adverts. It's simply stunning. Lead singer Jonsi has an absolutely magical voice, it sounds almost alien like, and often reduces me to tears. He uses a cello bow on his guitar to create a very unique sound, almost like huge chunks of earth being ripped apart. I was lucky enough to see Saeglopur played live with the bow, and it was insanely good. Glosoli is the most epic track on this particular album, it starts off so pure and gentle, with the haunting cello bow sounds, and then suddenly explodes. It makes you feel so good inside. After listening to this album, I can assure you that you'll want to go and see them live, and you really should, it would be the best night of your life.

All of their albums take a few listens to really get into, but I know from experience, it is well worth it. They are quite possibly the best band in existence, and it is a necessity to own this album. Anyone with an ounce of musical taste will be completely hooked. After a few listens, it had changed my whole way of thinking, and put me on the road to finding out about so much new music, I'm never going back. Overall a very beautiful and very moving album which stirs up emotions you never even knew you had! It will blow you away from start to finish.
