This is literally the best album I own. It's impossible to put it into words but I'll try anyway. I melt every time I listen. Each track flows effortlessly into the next, you barely even notice the change. It's perfect either for intense listening, or to have on whilst studying, or simply to lie back and shut your eyes and just relax. I often listen when I'm walking in nature, and it makes me appreciate everything so much more. It's easy to tell from the album that Sigur Ros were inspired by their wonderfully unique home country of Iceland. One of the best things about this album is that you can listen an infinite amount of times and not get bored of the songs at all, and each time I listen, I notice something new. I've heard them so much now that I know every single subtle sound, and it's all so perfect. I just keep listening and listening.

If you're not used to this sort of music, or have never even heard the band before, a good introduction to them is a particular song on this CD called 'Hoppipolla', that most people would recognise without knowing the name, from the BBC planet earth adverts. It's simply stunning. Lead singer Jonsi has an absolutely magical voice, it sounds almost alien like, and often reduces me to tears. He uses a cello bow on his guitar to create a very unique sound, almost like huge chunks of earth being ripped apart. I was lucky enough to see Saeglopur played live with the bow, and it was insanely good. Glosoli is the most epic track on this particular album, it starts off so pure and gentle, with the haunting cello bow sounds, and then suddenly explodes. It makes you feel so good inside. After listening to this album, I can assure you that you'll want to go and see them live, and you really should, it would be the best night of your life.

All of their albums take a few listens to really get into, but I know from experience, it is well worth it. They are quite possibly the best band in existence, and it is a necessity to own this album. Anyone with an ounce of musical taste will be completely hooked. After a few listens, it had changed my whole way of thinking, and put me on the road to finding out about so much new music, I'm never going back. Overall a very beautiful and very moving album which stirs up emotions you never even knew you had! It will blow you away from start to finish.

     Sigur Ros's Victory Rose

This is one of the most beautiful albums I own. So simple in some respects so baroque in others. Utilizing a wide spectrum of musical instruments, this album is an innovation and is highly original. From the first track this album takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of euphoria and contemplation. Sigur Ros are masters of what they do. You always know when a song is timeless when it is used for TV and songs hoppípolla and sæglópur are testament to this having been used for anything from Planet Earth to The X Factor. Sigur Ros... This is your Victory Rose.

     something different but wow!

i was drawn to sigur ros after hearing a song of theirs on the film vanilla sky. up until then i was predominantly a heavy rock fan, with deep purple dominating my collection. but this is music on a different level, and i don't see sigur ros having any competition in their genre. it's never too late to find superb music, whatever your previous tastes. track 3, (Hoppipolla ) is an absolute joy to listen to.
music this good at only a fiver is a gift!! treat yourself.

Probably the best album I own

the music speaks more than words ever will...

this album is a work of beauty. for the uninitiated, Sigur Ros can be a difficult and challenging band to get into, but perseverence is well rewarded.

whether they sing in that made-up language of theirs, or Icelandic, the majority of listeners will not understand a word at all. it is the music, which takes you on the journey. the epic Hoppipolla is the epitome of jubilation, whatever the language. Glosoli is the tender and intimate lullaby that lulls you into a dreamworld of its own while Andvari is a woozy string-laden soundscape for watching the sun rise to.

many years ago i had been ranting on about how important lyrics were to songs, but bands such as Sigur Ros have had me rethink this notion. like the Cocteau Twins before them, their music speaks far louder than words ever will,. whatever language or whether the song is 2 minutes long or 10 minutes, it all flows and merges together seamlessly. its a concept album without a concept. give it a chance and it will all make sense.

This album is very good and has some great sounds on it, the fact that its from an icelandic band gives it a sense of mystery, one of the better albums i've listened to recently
