A good place to start with Opeth in my view. Not their best album by any means though, but if you listen to this before the others I believe you'll appreciate it a lot more than otherwise. It does contain harsh vocals for those who aren't keen on them, but the clean vocals are beautiful. As with most Opeth albums, the atmosphere is what makes it what it is and the atmosphere on Ghost Reveries is hauntingly beautiful. The instrumental work isn't over the top nor unnecessary, everything fits together perfectly and the passion in Mikael's vocals is chilling.
@ 'Littlemarty' : All of Opeth's albums contain the mix of clean and harsh vocals, and saying "he has a good voice when he tries" is ludicrous, just because he uses harsh vocals doesn't mean he doesn't put in any effort.
Prog Death Melodic Heavy rock/metal - and the better for it!
