Their first album was stunning, simply put. Radio wars, while very good, isn't AS good as their debut album.
The problem for me is that there aren't that many classics. Well, the first two songs, Treasure Hunt and Cities Burning, are up there with Howling Bell's best, but the remainder take a while to stay with you.
It's certainly an album that requires a few listens, but it's still carries that quality Howling Bells sound. Treasure Hunt is my fave from the album, it's a cracking tune.
My least favourite would be Golden Web - I get what they tried to do, but it doesn't work. It starts off well, but the Chorus lets it down.
Nightingale is probably the most haunting of the bunch and it works all the better cos of it. It's something you'd expect in a Tim Burton film.
Into the chaos has a great beat, it's dancier than you'd usually expect, groovy.
The album's last song is a bit of a downer. It's good, but not great, and certainly one of the weaker ones of the album.
When I say weak, I mean in terms of Howling Bell standards. They are still much better tunes than most other bands can work up.
