Dancing Hands

I heard of this album - as I hear of most music I buy - from Radio 3's Late Junction. It's a brilliant collection by an amazingly talented performer, and consists of instrumentals and songs with vocals in English and Gaelic.

There's a superb variety and range of sound on this album, from heartbreakingly pure 'traditional' folk like "Goodbye to the sea and sailors" to Breton and Indian-influenced fusion, with harp, guitar, piano, whistle and accordion lending to the rich mix.

This is Phamie Gow's third album, and definitely on course to become a firm favourite.

I first encountered Phamie playing her harp by a cathedral in Barcelona. I liked what she was playing and the skill which she showed was amazing. I bought Dancing Hands from her there and then not knowing what the album was like.
On my return home I played the album and was really pleased that I had bought it and felt privileged to have actually seen her play live in such a great setting.
The album is a mixture of music moods from slow "Celtic" songs to what I can only describe as a real foot tapping jig. My only downside to the album is that I wish it were longer.
I am definately going to be getting more of her stuff and maybe one day if luck is on my side catch her playing on the streets of the beautiful city of Barcelona.
