I think it's very unfair to say, like some people do, that this album is a 'tale of two halves'... what people don't remember, is that the songs on the second half of this album aren't bad!!! in fact, far from it!! (especially the likes of 'Midnight Show' and 'Everything Will Be Alright') it's just that the 1st 5 tracks are, well, 5 of the greatest songs The Killers are likely to ever write!!! At least 4 of them are garanteed to feature on a 'Best of/Greatest Hits' CD from the band in the future...
Now, Sam's Town is my favourite album of all time!!!
and Sawdust is a stunning collection of songs (especiallly when you consider the majority of them are only b-sides!!!)
and no doubt, the band's next album will be massive!!!
but, Hot Fuss will always be the album that started the career of the best band on this planet!!! End of...
If you've read this review, and still don't feel compelled to buy this great album, then frankly, you really are missing out...
there first and no doubt the best album they will release

this album is by far the best in my collection, i thought to myself i'll only listen to the good songs while i try to fall asleep but i didnt skip 1 track and thats when i realised there isnt 1 song i didnt like on this stunning album from (in my opinion) the greatest indie band ever, its the best of all 3 albums but to be fair SAWDUST was a b-side album not a proper album, the killers are superb.
as a man called Sven use to say...

'first half - very good. 2nd half not so good'.
the first 5 songs are excellent. Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine is a stomping electro-rock opener, Mr Brightside is as anthemic now as it was when you first heard it and Somebody Told Me is one of THE songs to pogo to at festivals come summertime. similarly Smile Like You Mean It is pure pop-rock genius with a killer guitar solo, but after track 5, only On Top is any good, and even then it's merely a 'good song' rather than a spectacular one. everything else is REALLY REALLY poor. Brandon Flowers is a crap singer (lets be honest...), and on the 2nd half of the album, it really shows while during the 1st half, the thrill and the brilliance of the songs hides this with ease.
overall the album is pretty good, but only because of how excellent the opening 5 tracks are. the rest is a let down. it shouldve been an EP.
One of my fav albums

What can I say, an absolute stormer.
Right in with 'Jenny Was A Friend of Mine' leads you into an album with faults. The iconic 'Mr. Brightside' the brilliant 'Smile Like You Mean It' and the football-like chanting of 'All These Thing That I've Done.
But the singles aren't just the only decent songs. Personally my favorite is 'Believe Me Natalie' which a brilliantly subtle and gradually leading to an epic ending. Breathtaking.
Every single song on this album is genious. If you want a decent music collection, BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!!!
top album

This is one of my favourite albums of all time, the mix of indie rock and electric dance is trully superb, anyone who desn't respect this album cannot respect music.
i do not see what all the fuss is about

i'm sorry, but come on people.seriously think about why you like music, and you will know that this band do nothing more than average.
this band is more overrated than Him, and that is awful!
Excellent

Sure the first few tracks are amazing but the other tracks are just as good, theyre just not well known like the others. It takes some getting used to listening to the other tracks but I love them just as much as the others now. Its definatly one of my more favoured albums from the Killers.
Amazing start, mediocre end

If this album was purely based on the first 5 songs then it would be a classic, but unfortunately the remaining songs let the album down. Dont get me wrong they are good songs but you expect so much more after you've listened to the start. Still worth the money though.
