I initially bought Rabbit Fur Coat for my girlfriend as a birthday present but soon after hearing it for the first time I claimed it as my own.

I was already a Rilo Kiley fan but for me you do not have to neccessarily be a Rilo Kiley fan to enjoy this album. The album is very alt-country tinged, the sort of alt-country pioneered by the likes of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Endlessly enjoyable, endlessly listenable and endlessly loveable!

I love the image of Jenny Lewis represented in this album. Its an image that I am sure you will fall in love with too if you give it a go!

I got 'Rabbit Fur Coat' on its release date as I was planning to go see Jenny live a few weeks later. To be honest i just expected this record to mirror everything she had done with Rilo Kiley-but it was completely different. Her solo project gave her the chance to get her own material out there in a manner which seemed to gather influence from gospel/country sounds...in a cool way, if you can imagine that's a possibility. Hearing the material live just increased my love of the album (that and getting a high five and a 30 minute conversation with jenny afterwards). Don't buy it if you think you're just getting a Rilo Kiley album with a solo title, but in my opinion it's a great laid back soulful debut that should be experienced by fans of her more experimental RK material.
