 Viva La Revolution(s)!!!

I've always like the Biff, but always felt they lacked something. When Puzzle came out, I felt they not only had found that something, but they would never surpass it...but they have done just that with Only Revolutions. It is a truly great rock album covering all the bases from fast pumping tunes to acoustic numbers with strings....and whilst this is obviously in a commerical sense, a step forward, it also feels like a step forward in their song writing and performance abilities. It just hasn't been off my CD player/MP3 player/Laptop since I got it 3 days ago!!

What more can I say?!? Now buy it!!!

 Bored of the purist view

After getting immensely tired of 'hardcore' Biffy fans slagging off Puzzle I was waiting for the next onslaught of disappointment as their 'favourite' band speed further to the kind of prominence that the likes of Muse currently enjoy. Puzzle was a step towards the big time with some great songs, but some less listenable ones, a transition from the old Biffy to what was to come.
Only Revolutions still has that Biffy sound, its just more palatable to the masses..... and its quite quite brilliant. For whatever reason they often get compared to the Foo FIghters and if thats the case, this is Biffy's The Colour and the Shape. All tracks faultless. I got it Monday and Ive listened to nothing else since.
Worth the wait, brilliant.

 Excellent!

Having been a fan of Biffy for the past 7 years, I have to say that there has been a definite change in direction for the band in the last 2 albums. I, personally, can not listen to Puzzle, it just didn't grow on me at all! Having pre-ordered this, it arrived yesterday and so far i've listened to it about 6 times. It really is a massive step up from Puzzle. There are some truly amazing songs on this album, God & Satan, Bubbles and Shock, Shock to name but a few. My personal favourite is Many of Horror, its just amazing! Biffy are my favourite band so I will buy anything they release but this really is worth every penny for fans and non-fans alike. Mon' the Biffy!

 Very Revealing!

Biffy Clyro are a fantastic example of a group who are going from strength to strength, it's kind of scary just how good they are...but in a great way!

The album arrived first thing this morning and I was so excited, didn't expect it to arrive till Monday (thank you to my wife for buying it for my Birthday!!) and I had to listen to it straight away, nothing would stop me!

I loved Puzzle and for me that was the album that made Biffy stand out, yes there early stuff is good, but Puzzle was a great album and in my opinion much better than the previous offerings. It showed a very soft and emotional side, along with some songs that you just can't help but rock out to! I know a lot of fans dont really rate Puzzle and like the earlier stuff, but we all have different tastes.

It seems like such a long time ago that Mountains was released giving us a small glimpse of what was to come from them. Of course more recently we've had 2 singles released from the album, each showing us something completely different and individual.

So then, what about the actual album? Well I love it, without noticing I found myself constantly turning the volume up, nodding my head to every single song and singing along to the songs I knew. From the first play I just enjoyed every moment of this album, it's a fantastic album. Simon Neal's (the lead singers) voice is mesmerizing and as you listen to the album you are shown how versatile it is as it mixes in with the heavy riffs and the softer, personal moments. In fact it is so nice to see an album that does differ from song to song and doesn't really lend its self to only one style or sound which keeps you interested throughout. Too often do we see albums that have too many songs that sound similar and you sometimes have difficulty knowing where one song ends and the other starts.

This year we have seen some great music and albums released and this features up there with the very best of them and is bound to just increase the fan base for this group.

Go Biffy ;)

 It will be good

Don't doubt that this will be an awesome album for a second. I wouldn't say that they improve with each album but they certainly maintain a consistent level of genius throughout the first 4 albums.

I completely agree with the review below. I did not enjoy The Captain and thus far it hasn't grown on me, especially considering that it is going to be the the opening track on the album which typically has been so strong on previous records (Joy, Bodies, G & T and Living is a Problem). On the plus side it does sound slightly better live.

I continue to enjoy Golden Rule and hope that the album will follow in the same vain, i.e. slightly heavier as I prefer to appreciate the band as a metal band and less so the 'pop' sound which was introduced in Puzzle.

I have heard both Bubbles and Born on a Horse live. Bubbles, to me, sounded similar in structure to Some Kind of Wizard and Born on a Horse has a fab loud ending.

Puzzle really seems to have propelled Biffy Clyro to a wider audience and gone are the days when you can go to one of their gigs (if you can get tickets) and feel like part of the elite. Here's hoping that they continue to play the smaller venue's and stick to the formula which has endeared them to me so much since 2003 when I first picked up a copy of Vertigo of Bliss.
