If you liked "The Wombats: A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation" then you will like this album. The sound of it is similar without being the same. I would recommend this album.

I've changed my rating to 5* from 4* because the album has really grown on me in just a few weeks. Well worth the money.

Awesome album - must see live!

Listened to this album before I knew the massive Tales of Love, Loss & Desperation existed! Full of a great mix of tracks, with some stand out lyrics. After purchase of both albums & now attendance of two live gigs: Glastonbury 2011 and the current This Modern Tour - this album gets a 5 star!

     Brilliant

I was eagerly awaiting this album for some time, and I have got to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The wombats first album was full of energy but lacked the depth of a quality album, and I was expecting a similar type of album here, but no. They have lost the energy and focused more on the lyrics and the beat. this results in an album that you can listen to time and time again.

Songs such as Our perfect disease and Walking disasters I hadn't heard before I had bought the album, but have grown on me and are now two of the better songs in my opinion. There are some weaker songs on the album, Last night I dreamt and Schmacher the champagne are a slight let down, but as a whole the album quality is now at a much higher level than their debut album.

This album is definitely one which grows on you, as upon first hearing it does seem a little weak, but give it a week and you will not be disappointed. This is a slower, darker album compared to their first, but it just as good, if not better.

     Excellent

Superb second album from the Wombats. They've matured musically since their first album and it's good to see a band that can vary their sound and still sound great.

A huge transition from Wombat's first attempt

Really enjoyed this album which I must admit surprised me. I have the first album which is pretty good but too poppy for my usual taste. This album shows a real growth in both lyric and music writing. Songs such as Anti-D and 1996 show a new depth and sadness to the band that intrigued me. Not all songs as good as others, weakest song being Schumacker the Champagne but many strong songs including The Perfect Disease. Pleasantly surprised by this album.
