It gets better the more you listen...

I don't share the opinion that Walking On A Dream is a great or excellent album, but it is a good album. And the more I listen to the album the better it gets! There's still a track or two that let the album down. Apart from the obvious gem of We Are The People, there a few tracks that come across as well crafted and therefore grow on you. At 7euro... it is worth buying.

I purchased this after hearing We Are the People which I quite like but as for the rest of the album, it disappoints, the artist's overly camp, nasal voice coupled with disjointed, un-harmonic "music" make for a truely uneventful album.

 Original

Take a bit of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, add a pinch of the Human League, with a tad of 1960s psychadelia and you have a very original sound. Very good.

I will repeat what others have said and say the first 4 tracks are really good. Need to listen to the rest more to get used to them. Didn't know they were from OZ until someone said. Videos to their tracks are bright, weird and different. I think these guys will do well.

From new age pop to simply Bazzar.

I have to agree with some of the other reviews, the first 4 tracks are quite good but after that I think something very strange was being smoked and it all becomes weard, still worth a listen. Try and see the videos on their myspace site, there quite good.By the way these are nothing like MGMT.

One of the best albums you'll ever hear

This album is simply amazing. I first heard of Empire of the Sun when I watched the video to Walking on a Dream a few months ago on a music channel and the song was so brilliant that I bought the album immediately. So many albums are disappointing apart from one or two singles that are well-known, but every track on this one is catchy, edgy and unique in its own way.

The first four tracks are an explosion of strong, uptempo beats which are so powerful and instantly stay in your mind. The familiar singles, Walking on a Dream and their latest, We Are the People along with the incredible Half Mast are all stand-out tunes.

Don't be put off by reviews suggesting that only the first 4 tracks are good. Although the first 4 are the most upbeat and will hit you the first time you hear them, the other tracks are simply a mixture of mid-tempo and slower songs that you only need to listen to a couple of times before you love them just as much. It really is like an adventure or a story, as another reviewer says. Highlights later in the album are Swordfish Hotkiss Night and the gorgeously passionate Without You.

Empire of the Sun have delivered brilliantly catchy fast tunes in addition to real power and emotion in their slower songs with inspiring lyrics and stunning vocals. You are missing out in a big way if you don't hear this album. The talent is unbelievable.
