 I'm Medicated, are you?

For some reason many Placebo fans were disappointed with the fact that on this, their fifth studio album, they did not recurgitate their predecessors. I was not. A new found maturity to song writing, coupled with a playing down of using electronic elements that stand out so much on 2004s 'Sleeping With Ghosts,' shows that Placebo have returned to form. Opening track 'Meds' plunges the listener head first into this album and is one of its many highlights. 'Infra-Red' and 'Drag' keep the openeing up beat and rocky before the more trip hop effect of 'Space Monkey'. The lyrics are strange and the melody intoxicating. Molko's voice hangs crystal clear in the air in this track. 'Follow the Cops Back Home' keeps the mood downbeat and pensive as Molko questions, "I'm medicated, how are you?" A brilliant line if ever there was one. 'Blind','Pierrot the Clown' and 'In the Cold Light of Morning' prove that Molko can still churn out songs that drip with emotion and rival some of the tracks from 1998s 'Without You I'm Nothing.' First single released from the album, 'Because I Want You' screams of arena anthem and crowd pleaser and in essence is simply pure Placebo. If the album couldn't get any better the trio bring in Micheal Stipe from REM to duet on 'Broken Promise', adding his eerie vocals to the track complient the more high pitched tones of Molko. Ironically 'Song to Say Goodbye' is the last on the album, and unfortunately, saying goodbye is the last thing you're going to want to do to this album.

 Just a Great Album

I haven't been fully into Placebo for that long, but I would say this is a great album for new or old fans.

My personal favourites (if I was forced to choose) from this album would be: Meds, Infra-Red, Post Blue and In The Cold Light Of Morning (Live version is better than album)

There are slower songs with deep meaning which will hit home for some people in so many ways, but there are also more lively, energic songs to wake you up in the morning.

I would go on and on but I don't want to bore anyone. I am glad I spent my hard earned cash on this album, enjoy.

Regards
Jason

This (meds) album is by far my most faveorite placebo album.
I've been a very loyal fan for many reas, at least 5years.
And every single album had at least two (2) songs i could deeply replate to. I'm not just talking bad breakups as sadly we all have to deal with at least one of those.
What i'm talking about is very server bi-polar disorder with one majorly bad phycostic event.
It's truley an awful shame that it took the british national health serivise a little over eight (yes, 8) years to diagnoised hence the reason why i'm "hooked" on the tune meds, makes for extremely blunt but also rather comforting (knowing that in fact iam never alone in this battle) lyrics.
And at this current prince (£4.99) you would be "mad" to miss it!
I can not recommend this highly enough.
Plus high praises to play.com for the free p&p and for most of the time (at least 90%) delivering within three (3) working days.
So, in summery, go ahead peeps, treat urselfs, u know ur worth it *insert wink and stuipdly cheesy aerican billboard model smile here!*
Enjoy =o)

Love this album. Placebo have always been one of my favourite bands, like their music as it's pretty original in its own way. 'Post Blue' is my favourite song on this album - brilliant.
