i don't know who to describe this album, but i found it very renewing and very pleasant to listen to. except for that two really weird songs, the other ones are catchy.
saw them live in a very colourful outfit, with their funny manierisms, and although all that was part of the game their musical performance was outstanding. these are not clowns, they know what they are doing and if you ask me: they do it well.
St Elsewhere is a very summery album. it's laidback, chilled, fun, and warm. even "Crazy", which in itself, is quite a sad song, but it has some hidden warm undertones. you've probably heard a number of these songs on the radio. even before Gnarls Barkley, you may have heard "Gone Daddy Gone" by Violent Femmes. in my opinion, Gnarls Barkley's Cover is actually better. it's a very individual album, in the sense that not many bands have this sound. it's very fresh, and original. in this day and age, that's not something you hear too often.
Funka-licious!!

Brilliant album to pump out of the car stereo - the best songs being Crazy (obviously), Smiley Faces, Gone Daddy Gone and the brilliant darkly tinged Just A Thought!! This is a perfect album for the coming summer months!!
