Depending on where you sit on the Porcupine tree fence, this album will be their best step forward or a retreat backwards from their last 3 stunning albums. At first I was a little disappointed at The Incidents 'dreamyness' and wished for more grunting guitars, but then I remembered back to In Absentia and how good that album was. The Incident is very similarly. Lots to listen for and pull out. Lots to keep you playing this album over and over again. Not an instant hit, but grows very quickly. If you liked Steve Wilsons (Awesome!) Insurgentes solo album then imagine that mixed up with Porcupine trees usual sound and your getting there. I think this is up there with their best work! Buy it!
Just to add: After 3 listens, this album is definately one of their best works!! Fantastic!!

 Outstanding!! Back with FORCE!

Porcupine Tree are back! This album is interesting as it works out to be one big story/song. No gaps on the first CD. The first time I sat through this CD I couldn't turn it off and when it finished I couldn't believe I had sat through 14 or so songs!
This album feels like a nice mesh of old Porcupine Tree with new, a true sign that they have mastered their own unique style and can now use it with full force. A masterpiece that just gets better and better as you listen to it. I cant stop...

An Incident with "Dogs" and "Sheep"

Listen to floyd's "Animals" and you've got the blueprint for this album - like "Time Flies", which is close to rip-off - did anyone say "dogs" and "sheep"? Steven Wilson Pleeease!!! .... beyond that - Porcupine Tree is still an amazing band and "The Incident" has some great highlights and is worth buying.

a great album from a great band

This album really is amazing. Having seen them live in Glasgow in december I can't stop playing it. I've even bought tickets to the extra gig they announced in London at the royal albert hall. If it's worth driving 800 miles round trip to see a band they must be good!

There's definitely more than hints of floyd. Time Flies is very Dogs, but to the point where I think perhaps it's intended as a tip of the hat to Floyd. Gavin Harrison on drums is truly spectacular and is surely one of the best drummers ever.

The strength of this album lies in the contrasts. There are very melodic pieces, but also very thrashy ones and Porcupine Trees trick as always is to merge the 2 seemlessly to great effect.

Another great album from Steven Wilson and co.... buy it!
